An interesting line-up indeed, first start for Matty Shaxton and glad to say Lord Lucan himself (Danny Hodnett) will be gracing the City number 5 shirt.

Great to see Mr Richards on the scoresheet again, looking like a shrewd signing by Tim.
It looks as though Ciren are in the bottom 3 now on goal difference after the 'Stones draw.

Southern League site shows Richards was hero and villian as og was credited to him. Crowd was 325.
Wealdstone equalised in last minute against Clevedon

Another great result away, I see Rugby are putting a few useful results together so we shall need to be aware of this.
I see Kidderminster had 8 players booked tonight at Stevenage, some rehearsal for their Trophy final next month!!

Cinderford got a respectable 1-1 draw at home to Bromsgrove. Not quite as emphatic as the 7-1 turnover the Foresters inflicted on them earlier in the season.
They still have an outside chance of making the play-offs - if they can win their games in hand.

All in front of a seasons best crowd of 140

Tonights Errea Cup Final First Leg, Tivvy V Hemel only attracted a crowd of 279, which if was a league game would be the lowest crowd by a mile (they average 450). Obviously a long way for away fans in midweek and it is a first leg, but this is a bit low.
I know many don't respect this competition, but if we got to the final of this, do you think we would get a slightly improved gate for the game? Personally I'd love to be in the final, any final, and would take great pride in watching City lift the trophy, and hope a respectable crowd would be in attendance.

I think all City fans would love to see us lift a trophy after all the heartbreak of years gone by and success on the field will lead to the glory hunters coming out of the woodwork to support us. I know that when we reached the semi final of the League Cup back in Brian Godfrey's day (twice), the home legs on each occasions attracted crowds of around 1000 so the interest is there but I just think that now the competition doesn't grab the supporters attention any more and I think this is the same for all league cup's and not just the Southern League.
I also guess a lot of it is down to the opposition as well- let's face it, Hemel didn't bring many to MP for a Saturday game so they ain't gonna take many to a game further away on a Tuesday nite. Added to the fact that Tivvy have another 12 games to play this season, then this will effect a lot of the home fans who may not be able to go to all the home games (especially when their pensions won't stretch that far!!!!!!)

If we could get to the final we may even get a mention on Radio Gloucestershire, and even a full 1 page feature in the Citizen!
Surely thats all the motivation you need!

Sorry about the livescores service being a bit patchy tonight, I was busy trying to video the game so hopefully sometime tomorrow you'll be able to see both goals and the highlights from the game :)
In the meantime have a listen to what Tim thought of tonight here (http://www.cityladies.co.uk/spf/th030407.wav)

Rather dull game, played out by two teams with little left to play for this season. Both keepers had relatively easy nights.
Hodnett was probably my man of the match. I've never seen such brutal, but fair, challenges. Even 30-70 encounters end up as his. I'd love to see him as a permanent signings next season.
As Tim L pointed out, the last 3 goals we've conceded have came from our own players. But today's was ridiculously lucky, and it looked as though we'd cleared the danger.
The squad's shaping up nicely, and I'm looking forward to next season already.

Bitterly cold night, but a point a fair result.
Their goal came from a driven clearance by one of our players - sadly driven into Ricco and back over the keeper for the flukiest of og's
Hodnett did well again, despite having to switch to left back from right back to cover for the early loss of Alex Allard (who took a nasty knock needing stiches inside his lip on 15 minutes). Shaxton will have been surprised at that point to get pushed back into a defensive role, but did well enough, and could have won us the game late on.
Sam Ellis came on for his debut, and looked confident enough for the handful of minutes he got on the pitch.
Talking of pitches.... lets just say it wasnt the best we have played on this season

If my camera skills are as good as I think they are then you'll see it in the highlights package as well as Tony Bird elbowing Wilko in the face

Sounds like a good result for City, I think we should beat Rugby on Sat after our last few performances. I am also very excited about next season!

A poor game, high temp mind...
Our pitch is pathetic, but that was the three hundred millionth game on it this season...
