They're spending Ģ3k per week now as opposed to Ģ**** all at the start of the season. I suppose it makes their run in exciting doing it that way doesn't it!

Cinderford also got a 2-0 win, although Bishops Cleeve lost 2-1.
Without checking, who do you think has the highest average attendance, Cinderford or Bishops Cleeve?

You'd be right Zak, according to the Southern League's website Cinderford average 103 per home game compared to Bishops Cleeve's 96.
However, Cinderford's highest gate of the season is 118 in comparison to Cleeve's 210.
Methinks I should get out more and stop getting excited at statistics

Well there were only 90 today at Cinderford. Just down the hill, in Minsterworth, I was playing in a front of a crowd that wasn't a million miles away from that number.
And I treated them to goal of the season as I hit a cross on the volley from outside the box, bending off my wrong foot. 5-0, top of the league.
Sorry to show off, but Paul Scholes would have enjoyed that one.

Drakey and I watched the Cinders match - Drakey coming in at half time to save a bit of cash... Talking to a guy who sold match programmes at The Causeway back in the early sixties - he sold at least 650 per game. Interestingly most of the players of that period were local to the Town, some went on to play league football I believe, one game in particular attracted 5000 spetators... It's been a Rugby dominant town for over a century with the local derbys against Lydney attracting around 2000 each game. Only the inter Pit games of the 30's and 40's ever attracted those sort of attendances
What's really interesting is that other than The Robbers or FGR in an FA Cup match - Meadow Park entertaining that sort crowd would be remote which is a shame... And to be brutal - if you take Gloucesters population as being around 130,000 with 350 average gate watching City, against Cinderfords population of 10,000 with 100 on average watching - it doesn't take much calculating who's got the better percentage of following remembering also that a lot travel in to watch at MP
We live in a region with a passion for egg chasing, and that egg is hard boiled I'm sorry to say...

Crowds are down all over the place, Halesowen yesterday was only a little bit over 400 when traditionally they've always enjoyed much healthier support.
I think another key was to be found in the bar pre-match. With Liverpool live on three plasma screens when they scored there was a quite audible "YESSSS" and there was also a report the other day saying that people who watch games in pubs are as much fans as those that go to the ground.
Thats the reason why crowds are down, it's just a shame that clubs like Salisbury and Bath are keeping players wages artificially high because no club at this level will be able to succeed without spending what they haven't got :(

Especially as now nearly everywhere in town shows 3pm Saturday games as well, the other day for United v Liverpool, I watched in Bakerīs Street and there was about 200 people in there just to watch the game on TV, it would be great to get those people down to MP after the game, I got to the ground at 10 to 3 after the game so it is possible.
