Great Performance Tonight.:notworthy:

Just proves the best teams not the best individuals win football matches.

I particularly like the concept of pairs of players supporting and complimenting each other.....Owen/Heskey......Wright-Phillips/Richards.....Gerrard/Barry.......Terry/Ferdinand.......Cole/Cole.

Just seems to make sense

Reminds me of the way Yate Town play.;)

Not sure about the last comment!

Heskey is a donkey but you cannot argue that Michael Owen just loves playing with him - personally I wouldn't change one player for the next game.

i think steves got big thing to think about like if Rooney should be in

i think Heskey and Barry have been better than Lampard and Rooney/Crouch !

and owen and Heskey remind me of welsh and pitcher

com on England

and Scotland beat France :D

Was a Good victory for England, every player did his job which is everything you can ask for really! I've always been a fan of Heskey, some of the criticisms he receives is very unjust, just glad people are recognising how important he can be for England.

On another note, Scotland, I was flicking between BBC and Sky Sports and caught McFadden's goal, simply amazing stuff.

Maybe England v Scotland at Euro 2008? Easy three points

My brother and Dad went to the game tonight, and by chance, in a crowd of 86,000 who do they bump in to? The one and only Phil Warren! Small world eh?

"Heskey is a donkey"

who wins every ball without fouling?

Even though he is a big lad, heskey gets knocked off the ball. he did play well, but crouch is fantastic. he can trap a ball and lay off. where as heskey has 50 pence feet, and who knows what direction his heading is going to go? fo me barry was excellant, lampard will be a good sub for the next couple of years.

Just back from the game - fabulous occasion and result. Heskey was simply immense.

And as for that Phil Warren - he gets everywhere you know (and I was sat just down the same row as him

Gareth Barry has been brilliant for Villa for years. Bout time he was given a chance for England.

looks like there was a bit of a city contigent there tonight, I've just got back too.Thought Heskey was awesome in the role he played, which was to win the ball and pass it to a white shirt, he must have won about 20 headers. Barry was also very impressive. Great atmosphere in there tonight.

Personally I reckon we should keep the same side for the rest of the qualifiers - injuries permitting. Very glad Barry has taken his chance after a long time getting no recognition.

Heskey over Crouch any day. Big, burly and problematic. Crouch - withered, weak and quite possibly deformed.

Am I the only one who thought that we were lucky? OK, we scored the goals but Russia were on top and playing flowing football at times and we had no answer to them. We were just lucky that they didn't get bodies in the box else the result would've been alot different.

We'll do well to get a draw over on their plastic pitch.

And yeah, I thought that SWP had an amazingly mediocre game...

So effectively what you're saying is that we were lucky that Russia were not better at scoring goals than us, otherwise we would have lost? And despite scoring three goals, we had no answer to Russia's fruitless attacks?

Just checking...;)

To be honest in a way I agree with Neil, yes it was an excellent result for England last night and one that will certainly go a long way towards qualifying for Euro 2008 but England certainly rode their luck at times last night. Russia certainly looked a half decent side and the game over there will probably be a lot tougher, a defeat there and suddenly the Croatia game takes on extra significance

Mind you the result last night certainly showed the fickleness of some in the media, after the Germany game many were talking of sacking Stevie Mac but two results later (one against a side playing the sort of negative football George Graham would have been proud of) he's suddenly become the master tactician.

It seems that when teams create zero chances against us i(.e.Israel) and we batter them, it is down to them being poor, not the fact that we prevented them from creating anything.

But when teams do create chances, (i.e. Russia) and we stil batter them, then we are considered lucky to have won.
