Does anyone think that they will now go down again after todays rubbish performance! I know we are away next saturday @ Yate so really need a win to get folk back to the New Lawn!

In a way it's good that we're away from home for the next three weeks. We really need to sort out our home form though.

Our relatively large away support will always be there, we just need the people in Gloucestershire who like Football to come to the New Lawn instead of watching Gillette Soccer Saturday or some corny film on a Saturday Afternoon. The attendances have been disappointing so far.

What is it with us and home results? We've only won 6 of our last 27 Home games in all competitive competitions since the start of last season, which is just terrible.

Football is about entertainment and the truth is that most supporters feel they have only been entertained when their side wins. That is even more so when the potential supporter makes a decision to attend the next match when reading a result in the paper.

So how do we encourage people along for the first time?

I have long believed that Football Clubs make great efforts to sell everything from raffle tickets to advertising - but forget to sell their core product - the football.

During the late autumn/early winter we have a huge amount of matches close together and we must market them to best effect. While I haven't yet finalised the "campaign", part of what I want to do may involve door to door leafleting. I will therefore be asking for some help.

And the bonus - well, the Government keep telling us that we all need exercise - what about a nice walk around your own neigbourhood popping a few leaflets through the door?

You know where I am if you want to help.

I brought two people to the Rugby Town game, they politely declined to go to the Bromsgrove game, though one returned to the Brackley match. The outsiders KNOW about "The Tigers"you only have to look at the videos of the Cardiff and Dad. and Red, matches to see they were hanging from the rafters. The vast majority had never been to Meadow park before and certainly not since.
We had good results against Cheshunt and Bromsgrove and Five other howlers. If we had won all seven matches and had been playing at the City ground we would have had a few disenters drift back, but The New Lawn is a step to far, they might get altitude sickness! The outsiders only follow "A Winning Team", and if the team does not win almost every match they will not turn up.
Get a run in the FA cup and "THE NEW LAWN" will not be large enough to hold all the "I've been a Tigers supporter all my life" crew.
Ps. I just hope there will be enough room for me!

I think the attendances have been about what we expected to be honest and the first two matches were helped with Rugby & Halesowen bringing about 50 supporters each.

The harsh reality is that unless we have a good cup run or are pushing for the play offs then we will struggle to get 250 at a lot of the matches later in the season.

The positive to take is that those 250 are all die hard supporters and we will get behind the lads and make as much noise as we can

The negative is that we've budgeted for 400 so get your mates along!

Obviously we need as many people up at the New Lawn as possible this season.

Was the figure of 400 based on £8 or £8.50 per person? I think that setting the budget based on 400 at each game was a little optimistic.

Does anyone know, are there "ANY" Tesco supermarkets near Yate?

I might be able to tempt some others to accompany me there on Saturday afternoon, as it would be less stressful!

Who needs "UPPERS and DOWNERS" when they support "THE TIGERS"!

Talking of the numbers who turned up for the Cardiff and Daggers games, I recall them all singing along to the 'City till I Die' song, maybee we lost them all to the floods?

This is a great link. http://www.tesco.com/storelocator/Could be useful for all away games. Just enter Yate into search. I''ll meet You there!
Shame I won't be going to Kings Lynn as they have 4. Could have visited them all if we got there early!
Back to original theme of this thread. I've got a novel idea for improving our gates... WIN a few home games!

There are about 50 Tesco stores in Yate because they've bought up just about every corner store and called them Tesco Express, but the main Tesco is in the Town Centre about 2miles from Lodge Rd.

The best place to meet is the Cross Keys pub on North Road about a five minute walk from Lodge Rd. That's where me and my mates will be from about 12:30pm

See you there maybe!!!

Sure is and it always has a good friendly atmosphere.

BTw the Cross Keys does good, reasonably priced food if anyone's looking for somewhere to eat and they have a bookie in the pub if you want to put some bets on. Opens @ 11:45am.

Not only corner shops, football grounds as well.

They are to buy Larne FC's ground from the council over the footballs clubs head. ( they can go a wandering like ourselves)
And the great Everton cannot even get a new ground without Tesco's help!

I think that we are missing something here,if Tesco's were to be on our side, WHO! could stand against us.

A new ground in the centre of Gloucester Park,me thinks?

Plenty of open space there, which is seldom used, and plenty of large trees to cut down.
That would upset the tree huggers as well!
