I've emailed the club using the email published on their official website to ask them to pass on the complaints so I can remove whichever pictures cause offense yet despite them being full time and me sending the email an hour ago, I've yet to receive a response. Yet in that time "Lady Mapgie" who originally posted the topic has replied to her own thread

Why does football have to be covered by so many rules? This is a crazy world!!

I think the 'criminals' are me and Joycie for posting the link, rather than Neil for taking the pics, so I shouldn't worry about it. This whole business still confuses me, though

wasn't digging at you guys, or at FG mate. just think that it is ridiculous. Say you were walking through town and ITV were filming in the street. you walk past in the background not realising until it is too late. Do you write to ITV and tell them you don't wanna be in the film, and therefore they have to re-shoot? and would they do this? would they ****!! Just think there are too many rules and reg's nowadays!!

I think it may be more to do with the fact that one of their fans (Bigsav) contacted me and asked if he could use a picture of Stuart Fleetwood in their matchday programme. Of course I obliged and I suspect that it may have put someone's nose out of joint...

Wasn't taking it as a dig mate, I was agreeing with you.

There's a rumour/UL been going round for years that the government is going to ban the public taking photos that might include 'other people', as an infringement of their rights, thus putting an end to all amateur photography. This is getting worryingly close to that scenario

a ban on taking photos! as weird as it sounds it must be true. apparently though there is no restriction on any fan taking a photo for his own benefit providing he does not go on to sell them to be sold for publication but there you go!

I don't understand this, so it's wrong to take photos of people and place them on a website without the fans/players permission. How the hell do newspapers get away with publishing photos of Britney Spear with her snatch explosed then, i don't think they would get permission for that. This is a load of legal ****. :tosser:

It's life mate. Genuine blokes like Neil, the "LAW" treats like a criminal, while the criminal has HIS human rights protected by the same"LAW." Most Tigers supporters look forward to his photo's ( action and inaction)shots of the matches, also if he was to beat "A BIG Drum" as well,I think that would be a hanging offence.
It's like the joke, a shortened version is.
An old man went into a bank to open a bank account but the"Jobsworth" behind the counter would not let him as he did not have a passport. The next customer was a drug dealer, and he said,I would like to open an account, certainly "Sir" said the "Jobsworth" how much? £9999 said drug dealer, thats fine do you have any identification, would a passport do said the drug dealer.
Certainly "Sir!" Which one would you like said the drug dealer, this one or this one or this or etc.
This says it all.

I was discussing this topic with a guy at work during the week, and he said that he read in a photography magazine that to take pics of a football game you had to have the permission of the shirt sponsers for both teams and the permission of anyone who has an advertising board that may end up in one of the pictures. Personally I would have thought that all parties there would be pleased that their advert was being seen by the people that later see these pics.

Last time I went to Chelsea, Zola scored his first goal for the club it was that long ago, we were stopped when we went in, and searched for, one of the things they were looking for were cameras.
Looked in the GreenBook,Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds, there's only mention that all media personnel should be identified, but in a way that they are not confused with safety personel or stewards. So are they are classing you as the media Neil.?

It's all to do with protecting their image rights. Clubs want to have total control over who takes pictures and where they end up.

This kind of control freakery has happened in recent years at Premiership clubs. Photographers and newspapers have got their own back by photo-shopping out the sponsor's logos from shirts. The club soon backed down.

Something similar is happening during the Rugby World Cup at the mo, where journalists have boycotted press conferences over the restrictions. See here:

Great thread, a typical comment on life today.

Still not sure what the issue was, privacy, image rights, noses out of joint, licensing? Implies that with a license the photos would have been ok?

Argument neatly brought to a close with the comment "can we just forget about it...." ha ha ha.

So you can't do it Neil, never mind the reasons why, them's the rules.

For the record the pictures are excellent, and fantastic for those that cant get to many games or people like my Dad who's knees prevent him from getting to any games - COF/Tiger roar/T-ender is a lifeline.

I hope this picture is attached OK - my first attempt.

This is my Dad at Banbury v Gloucester, being tempted by the bit of totty handing out free pens!!

I think he should sue Ban Utd, for the invasion of his privacy and the implication that he is easily led astray!

PS Apologies to anyone else in the picture appearing against their wishes and to Ban Utd for copying their picture and using it in a public place - though they didnt ask my Dad if they could use it.
