He’s won promotion with Gloucester City, captained the English Universities team for four years and helped establish Hartpury College as one of the top college football sides in the country. But now Marc Richards is swapping life in the Blue Square North for a new life Down Under. The 28-year-old will play his last home game for [...] (http://sportglos.co.uk/?p=1530)

Good luck Ricco. Joined us as a goalscoring midfielder. Leaving as a really solid centre half.

Really good player. Played a huge part in our promotion season (not least that own goal playing for Chippenham!). Will be missed.

That's a great piece of writing, Jenni. It captures how highly regarded Ricco is by his colleagues and fellow players. Difficult to add anything because you have covered it so well, but I am sure that supporters will echo every word. One's instinct is that Ricco will move on to other successes somewhere, and very best wishes to him for a great future.

good luck ricco, I think webby summed it up there with the word 'consistent', they don't come much more consistent than him, will be missed.

At the time I thought Tim Harris's assertion that Marc Richards could play as a football league centre half was a strange comment, but over the ensuing years with us I could see where he was coming from. His presence on the pitch is immense, he gives the oppo absolutely no time to settle. His zenith for me was the play off semi at home to Cambridge when we were 2-1 up and being battered, an equaliser looked inevitable but he repelled wave after wave.

Off the pitch he was very highly regarded as well. I always remember Sam Ellis telling me how welcome and at ease he made him feel when he moved up from the Youth team. Comments within the article also give other examples, even if Steve Davies turn of phrase is a bit unfortunate.

Finally, great article Jenni, your best to date. Well researched, nice use of player viewpoints etc, clearly the news has been known for a little time now, just waiting to be broken.

When i sponsor a player, they are on borrowed time! Good luck Ricco, a true personification of the spirit of this great club. You are allowed 2 years in the sunshine, then back for our first game at Bob Meadows Park. In my eyes, a true City legend.

You were my player of the season last season, you always give 100% the epitome of a non league player.
Have a great time and hope to see you back at the club sometime in the future.

I have to add, the title of the Sport Glos piece, I know Ricco is a powerhouse at centre-half but even heading the ball Down Under is a feat for him ;)
