An interesting read in the programme last night from Noah about the book "Floodlit Dreams" by Ian Ridley. I've read it, some interesting figures and theories in it.

Another good football book that I've read is by someone who was probably at the game last night, Peter Mallinger, "So you want to be a football director" about his time on the board at both Newcastle and Kettering. Sadly it stops short of his time at Corby.

I have read it too, agreed that it is a good read but on a finance sense didn't agree on how he ran the club

It pretty much covers the speculate to accumulate angle. They budgeted for crowds of 1400 and whilst they surpassed that figure on a few occasions every time they had 800 through the turnstiles they were losing money. You can never trust local people to support their local team on a regular basis.

I saw a proof copy of Peter Mallinger's book, but have not got round to buying it. I have met Peter - a nice guy.

Glad you are reading the programme, Neil. I have another piece coming up on one of the very best books on football that John Motson has read, and I agree with him. I think I have prepared it for the Redditch programme.
