I have this evening, through my connections with the Robins Nest Forum, received an offer from a number of their fans to come down and muck in next week with some of the hands on work required. Some of them have the week off work and are willing to use some of their holidays to help. A great gesture. I believe there are some others who want to pledge their support and are asking for a relaxation on the non CTFC membership Neil, is this possible?
We also have offers of mucking in from Mssr Pylonsider and hopefully other coriniums. Maybe others from elsewhere in time. Good on you all.
I think we should take advantage of these and any other offers while the iron is smouldering. My question would be whether or not we have any sort of plan of action in place - I know we cannot really get going until the water has gone and we've had a clean up but there must be some things we can plan to do in advance of this to make use of the offers?
While the publicity front is being handled excellently by Clifty, Neil, Mike and others, and routes for donations have also been set up, is anyone leading on identifying and organising works in the way Rio so brilliantly did during the summer?
I'm afraid this is going to be one of these where I am asking but not offering because I am not in a position to know what needs to be done, or follow it through. I'm sure many will understand that with a young family and a heavily pregnant wife it will be a commitment too far, although please be assured I WILL RISK DIVORCE BY GIVING UP MANY HOURS TO DO THE WORKS.
I'm very much an Indian, not a chief, in these matters.
Comments?

i don't think any cleaning will be done for several weeks shandy! We will not be allowed in until environmental health are satisfied that it is safe, and that will not happen until PROFESSIONALS have been in and made it safe!

I'm prepared to work flat out all day, every day if it means we have a chance of starting the season at Meadow Park, I'm sure everyone else will be too.

This may be the major issue, if ours are knackered for want of a better expression, what do we do ?

That's a good question, they are going to be very expensive to replace/fix. That was one of my main worries anyway. I don't really know how much floodlights are nowadays anyway.

They are not the most portable of things, that you could buy a set second hand from a club that has gone out of business or from other source.
Long-term we need to speak to the council about another site away from the flood plains and we might be able to re-use some of the existing stands etc. We need to be backed by them, yes it might have to be a community facility in some way. I don't think we have any other option.

Make no doubt about it, it will HAVE to be a community stadium for anything to happen.

As a short term solution could we not use Slimbridge or even Tuffley Rovers ground provided they are up to SLP requirements or if not maybe bring in temporary stands and floodlights although the costs involved may mean sharing a ground locally that has already met the requirements. If we ever made the decision to move from MP could we not take over Tuffley Rovers old ground and maybe adapt it as it is in a fairly populated area although parking might be a problem

Tuffley Rovers old ground was owned by the gas works, they only rented it off them, plus there would be no benefit form having the ground there due to the Jet and Whittle pub. Tuffley's club house was not at the ground it was on the field to the right of Cole Avenue (heading in to Gloucester) as you get to the traffic lights. Again I have heard that some have said that field would be an ideal place but it is used by Windsor Drive and other youth football teams and would have no room for building and is also too close to housing to be a viable possibility.

needs to have plenty of room for expansion as we rapidly move up the pyramid under TH.
It needs good road links.
It must not be within a country mile of a flood plain.
It is probably going to be government land or council owned.

With all that in mind, does anyone have any suggestions. You have to be looking at old school grounds, council owned property ?
Do you know where would have been ideal before they started building houses on it, my old Secondary School at Hucclecote. There would have plenty of space there. It is still within the city and now has good road links with all the new roads to the motorways at Brockworth.

This will have to be a community stadium anyway so would be perfect. Put a "training" pitch there too which could be used by Windsor Drive etc!

For a moment then I thought you were on about the Sloping Windsor Drive pitch with the Train track next to it, where I played when I played for Windsor Drive! :o
The Railway Triangle where the proposed community stadium would have been is the best choice in my opinion.

Is the land owned by the council or the Railway company ?

Railway triangle = mostly Railtrack, some ares by Glos County Council and some privately (back Allstones plus Eastern Ave).

if Railtrack are not using the ground they might be willing to give a bit of it to the club and in return we can name the ground after them.
Might be a non-starter but if you don't try, you don't get.

I don't think that Network Rail would appreciate it ;)
