I have just had the BBC on the phone asking for details about the photo that i sent in, and hopefully they will make an article out of it! They have also asked if i am willing to talk to the radio live about it, of course i said yes!!

Great, we will need to get coverage everywhere we can think of. Perhaps some sort of representation to the FA might generate some funding for all Clubs who find themselves in our position.

As Shandy has said, we can expect very little, if anything from our local council.

I see Cheltenham are reported as getting £1,000,000 as a share of some share out but I don't suppose any non leage club will see any however desperate they are with all this flooding.

Noah

They're not getting anything like that much, but it's galling that the Premiership think that they are helping the grass roots when they pass money across to the Football League. Only Sir Trevor seems to know what grass roots are. You're a gardener, Oldie, sort them out.

Hello all, just wanted to post my support for you guys from a Cheshunt supporter. I'm sure you have the goodwill of the football community as a whole but goodwill, although I'm sure is welcome, is not enough at this moment.

Yesterday I emailed both The FA and The Southern League to ask them what they are proposing to do to help with your situation and what indeed they are doing about supporting clubs that find themselves facing significant hardship through no fault of their own. I have suggested that the FA should contribute into a fund run by the league for emergencies such as these. I also contribute to another forum (about sports betting) and have posted my thoughts about your plight on there and I know that a number of forumites have emailed the Premier League, Sky and Setanta asking them to support the grassroots by giving money to an emergency fund and more importantly right now, to Gloucester FC. I suppose that it will not come to anything but it cant hurt. If enough people make their feelings known then maybe something will happen.

Its' good to see supporters and clubs in your area giving you the practical support that you need. I can only contribute from afar to your clean up fund and have happily done so.

Best of luck in the weeks and months ahead, I hope you get through it successfully.

I have had a response to my email to the FA:

"Many thanks for contacting The Football Association with your concerns.

The FA has been monitoring the situation and will look to help genuine cases where financial hardship is proven. It is believed that insurance cover will provide for most of the costs of repairs and renewals of club premises and loss of trade.

All cases should be received by The FA for the initial assessment; however the County FA’s will be asked for their input and verification of the claims, given their local knowledge of the flooding."

It sounds like there is a decent chance that the FA will help as long as your County FA backs you up and supports you.

Good luck with it all and I hope we get to play on the opening day.

Cheshunt Bloke, well done ! In case you have not heard from the British Gas League, I have spoken with the Chairman and he is in receipt of your message and, as one would expect, the Southern League will be sympathetic towards us and towards Banbury.

As the Womens County League Secretary, I am known at the GFA, would it help if I approached David Neale.?

I could try a two pronged attack, bearing in mind, there is an unaffiliated Ladies team, who potentially are homeless.

Totally agree Neil, my idea is not to divide, but looking for leverage. Womens football is the growth sport at the moment, and having another independant Ladies club using MP may be an advantage. It's worth a go, anyway.

I'll email David Neale.

David

I don't know if you are aware of the situation regarding Gloucester City Football Club of the British Gas Southern League, and their stadium Meadow Park.
During the recent flooding, the stadium has been flooded to within 6 inches of the top of the crossbar. This is the second time it has happened, in the last seven years. Because the area is a floodplain, the Club are not able to get insurance cover.

This link will take you to some photos of the flooding at the ground.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/tigerim...7600963983405/

The Clubs manager in a recent interview has said the chances are the Club may not be able to play at Meadow Park this season

Meadow Park is also used by Gloucester City Ladies FC, a totally independant Club, who use the same name, but pay to play at the ground. They are a South West Premier Division side.

The water has yet to subside sufficiently for any kind of safety check on the ground, the major concerns are the floodlights and electrics. They have offers of help, to clean up the ground when the waters subside, and small donations have been coming in from other non league clubs within the region and beyond.

Can the GFA assist Gloucester City either directly or indirectly through the FA, with some form of financial assistance.
