This is a fantastic and touching gesture from a great club. I suppose you were one of that group photographed on the T-End, (after the final whistle !), boasting that you'd taken it last season ! General, it is hard to find the words to thank you enough.

Does anybody know about Paypal? I've got some people who want to donate, however they want to donate via Paypal, is that possible? Could we create a collective account or something?

I don't even know what Paypal is :o

Paypal is probably the best way to pay for things on Ebay. That's why I have an account. It costs a little for the service when you receive a payment that way. Paypal is expanding and you can use it to purchase from a number of companies. Gee, Simon, am I ahead of you ?

Cheaper to do a quick bank transfer avoids the paypal costs

Paypal is only good for the insurance side of things

Not sure who would make this decision but should we look at putting all of the money from the 500 club in to this for the next couple of months?

As a contributor to the 500 club I would be more than happy for this to happen.

Just an idea and of course understand if it has already been allocated elsewhere.

I think you've got the sense of the way it's done, Darren. There's always an element of firefighting / floodfighting, so the meeting the Trust Board is having tomorrow will be responsive to the circumstances we're in just now.

Have none of these who want to use Paypal got Online Banking? You can donate through that (under "make a payment" on mine) and I am donating cash on Friday because I need the money thats in my account for other things.

I agree Paypal is (can be) good, but the charges are a joke and so is the service when someone chargebacks you

I've just done a bank transfer, no charges and its gone straight into the Trust's a/c. Bank on internet by 'Smile' I've never had a problem.

Cheers Oldie!

I agree that direct bank transfers are the easiest and cheapest way to do this but i have now set up the option of paypal for those that insist on using it!

I am really sorry, my studenting ways will not allow me to make any extra money donations. But I promise I will attend every game I can, every clean-up I can and every fundraising event I can.

I just wish I could offer more

Everybody should just do what they can, or contribute what they can afford. Nobody anywhere has been dictating what people should doing, they never do at this club.

I think your alternative, to give time and effort instead of money, will help a great deal. There will plenty to do ourselves!

So sorry and really upset to see the scenes at Meadow Park. This is the last thing you guys deserve.

Too far away to give any roll-your-sleeves-up help, but I am transferring a donation to the Clean-Up Fund, and down here today I have been in touch with the Chairmen / chief execs at Eastbourne Borough and Lewes FC - both clubs have played City in the last couple of years. We will at minimum get a little appeal in match programmes of both clubs next week, and possibly an actual collection.

Best wishes to you all, and keep the faith.

Kevin A.

That's most kind, Kevin. It is so gratifying to receive supportive words from so far and wide, and the south coast is a relatively long way away. But then we have only ever thought that we loaned the Andersons to faraway Eastbourne, and Queens Park. Good to have a posting from you, Kevin, whatever the circumstances that have occasioned it.

Should there be those who don't know Kevin, he is ever so well connected to the club, from the tannoy box right through to TH at the top of the pile. He and his Dad witnessed our struggles down the years and certainly rolled their sleeves up to help. There'll be rejoicing in Eastbourne about the success we'll be having this season.

Just announced on Radio Glos. that British Gas has donated 7K to the Flood Fund. A HUGE Thanyou to them.

Perhaps the FA may feel slightly embarrassed !

Yes indeed, what a great gesture, they didn't need to do that. In appreciation I will be replacing my electric lights with gas powered ones unless the Electricity people can come up with a better donation.

Hi guys.

Ive been speaking to Clifty about a collective donation from my website and its members (im not going to say what website it is - dont want to advertise!). We are setting up an acount for our members to donate into, and we will be giving you a lump sum at the end of it, sure it wont be as illusttrious as British Gas' donation, but we'll get what we can! ;)

Yours in sport

Some people watch T.V. on Saturday mornings. I have enjoyed this one very much so far, much more than watching T.V.

A small syndicate was formed on Thursday evening to provide £1000 for the Trust's funds and now I have just heard from Treasurer Kingo that there is another grand in the offing !

These are fantastic gestures and they come at just the right moment. The Trust is about to have a heavy expenditure in support of the club finding a new home and we need to replenish the purse.

Let's keep upbeat. Let's not even think about the money we have spent in the past few months are repairs to the floodlights, and pitch maintenance. I only mention it to explain why we are out of funds presently but, in fact, the two splendid donations are helping to bring a smile back to the Treasurer's face.

Northampton Town Supporters Trust will be donating the proceeds of the raffle due to be held at our first Open Forum of the season on Thursday 9th August.

If anyone is in the area and would like to attend the Forum is held at Sixfields Stadium from 7.30pm and the guest speaker is Cobblers Manager Stuart Gray

That is a brilliant gesture from the Cobblers ! I am so moved by this kindness that I will travel up to the Sixfields myself on Thursday. If anyone wants to come with me, then park at my house and I'll drive on from Andoversford. I don't want to leave any later than 5.45 p.m. because that route can be very busy at that time of day.

In fact, Cobblers, please forgive me if I arrive a little late.

In the past few years we have had a couple of excellent journalists following the club for the local press. Both have gone on to jobs that suited them still better than following Gloucester City around - because their roots were in Cheltenham.

Paul Godfrey is now Secretary of Cheltenham Town but will tell you that reporting Gloucester City when it drizzled into his cone of chips up at Sutton Coldfield was one of his football highlights.

I understand that Mike Dunstan is talking with the Robins Trust about how they may be able to help us.

After Paul came Jon Palmer, who cut his teeth as a reporter with Gloucester City. Like Paul, he came to understand us well. That he likes us is never in question, and Jon has just sent in a generous donation to the Trust.

hey im a welling united fan and am sorry to hear about the ground and i remember the day i went to your stadium. sorry i am unable to leave a donation as i am 17 and like a normal student, have no money. but i just want to wish your club all the best in getting your ground back to how good it was before and good luck in your league this season. (welling bottom) kindest regards, Michael Lynch.

Yeah we have a lot of games we should win but i suppose most footy fans would say that about their clubs. Well our keeper somehow scored an own goal yesterday so i dont know what is going on at welling, hope to get you lot in one of the cups, Will be a good day.

A little bit of good news. I've had contact from an insurance company who want to use my goalmouth photo on a pamphlet that they're producing and have agreed to make a £25 donation to the Trust as a goodwill gesture for me supplying it :)

Tim
31st August 2007, 06:36 PM
Well done, Neil, but £25? They're taking the p***! If they'd hired a professional photographer, they'd have had to have paid more than ten times that!

And while I'm on, I'm grateful to British Gas for their donation: they didn't have to give us anything. However, it's worth reflecting that in the first six months of this year, they made £3m profit each DAY!

I agree with you, Neil. I take Tim's point that the photographer is worthy of his hire and you take excellent photographs but presently I'd see it as cash we never expected, do. the British Gas and Premier League donations.

i'm still hopin that British Gas will donate the land along with the council, where Tuffley Rovers old ground is! that has to be the easiest option for us as there must already be floodlights, and therefore planning permission for them!!

If we can find an area which is already a ground in the making we could be using it within a couple of seasons ?????
