If this statement applies to you, why?
I'm not having a go, I know different people have different reasons but looking at the crowds that we get there are clearly a lot of people who won't actually go to watch City even if they are supporters.

Live near Lichfield, got a season ticket at Walsall, as I have for the last twenty years or so.
I did intend to watch City more this year. I went to Southport away, but haven't been able to get to any matches since - by and large when Walsall weren't playing, neither were City. Ciren's two hours each way from here, and tends not to fit in with my Saturday arrangements. Midweeks are a complete non-starter! Hopefully will get to more games next season, playing at Cheltenham will definitely make that more likely, and staying in BSN should mean I make some away games.

good to hear from you, LD,... I'm originally from Stafford... just up the road.. but now found asylum in Gloucester...

I've gone the other way Dr Wart! Gloucester born-and-bred, but went north in 1982 and never came back. Now live midway between Lichfield and Rugeley, but my wife works in Stafford.

Being away games and at the time no mention of coach trips I made other arrangements for those two dates.
Fingers crossed Saturday isn't another home game cancelled.

You don't list Tigers as one of your teams Wart. Are you sure you didn't find an asylum in Gloucester?

Work commitments are the main reason I haven't been for ages; I try to keep my free time for coaching Ladies football. Plus the fact I am told on many ocassions on this forum I am not a City supporter.

I've supported City since 1954, I lived near the ground in Longlevens and was there every week (First team/Reserves alternately). After the move to Horton Road I still continued to go, but, with other commitments (and the fact that I hated HR), my attendances declined.
Once at Meadow Park though my enthusiasm returned, and used to attend regularly with my son.
Times were good there, particularly as we appeared to have some money(!), but for me the killer came in the season (late 90s) when we failed to beat Salisbury in that last infamous match and missed out on promotion. I was so annoyed, at the time I almost felt as if we'd thrown the match because we didn't really want to go up, that I virtually gave up on City until I started reading this forum 2 or 3 years ago.
Playing away from Gloucester has been very difficult, WR will be easier, MP would be fantastic. Bring it on, with a succesful side the only way is up, just no more Salisburys please!

I went pretty regularly last season but have trailed off this season - "change in personal circumstances" etc.
My historical attendence has been limited over the last few (10) seasons as have studented, worked and lived away in about 5 different cities all over the shop (including a spell in Eastern Europe), meaning that in the Southern League days Northwood and Banbury were the only realistic trips, and the non-league fix was maintained by Whitley Bay and Hebburn Town when I was in Newcastle, and similar standard was maintained watching Bohemians 1905 in overseas climes. Other than around major religious festivals of course when I tended to be back in Glos and could come along.
A lot of long standing, passionate and committed fans end up moving away with work - a sign of the times, the nature of individuals' work and the lack of certain jobs in Gloucestershire. Working in Higher Ed, the nearest viable place for me to work is Bristol or Cardiff, and applying sod's law, this means I usually end up in the People's Republic of Tyneside. I imagine that I'll next get a job in Cumbria and we'll be put in the BSS next season...
Ultimately, if I had the opportunity of secure and well-paid employment away from Gloucester I would fit my matchday attendence around that. I don't think it makes anyone less of a fan. They still want City to win, they still say to their workmates they support the City and take the Mick out of them when they say "Man Utd", still get to as many City games as they can and still support the club as much as they can.
Also, the current economic climate means a lot of people are on flexible contracts, have periods out of work and the average Matchday spend of £20 can suddenly feel quite considerable - just the way it is. People still go, but less often and balance it with other things, which I think is fine.
In conclusion, a lot of things influence people's weekly attendence - kids, wife/spouse/gf commitments, holidays, DIY projects, lack of work, over work, distance to travel (which I think is a big thing for a lot of people) and the occasional overbearing desire to do "cock all" on a saturday. Maybe a register should be kept for home games? [note sarcasm].
Always a delicate area this, but I think it is a case of each to his/her own. I also think that as we move closer to Gloucester things will change for the better.

I would love to go back and watch City but aint getting into all the blame game now. Had some of the best times of my life following City with Taff very, very pissed i might add the length and breadth of the country. TBH i aint got no intrest going over Cheltenham! would be nice to take the kids to watch City tho when i cant get to certain Birmingham away games.

Gloucester City? "I haven't been for ages"
Would love to go to more matches, but the weather keeps interferring.
Hope to see more games next season in our mutal friends ground!
Anyway after todays game anyone not turning up, it's their loss, not seeing a proper football team in action!

For obvious reasons (distance/a large expanse of water) I can't get to many games then add on the fact I work every saturday out of necessity (financially), I'm limited to 5-6 potential weeks in the year when I can potentially get over.
Haven't seen one game this season, about 4 or 5 last season. It's not great support I know.
Hopefully when my student days are over in 2011, I will get a job and be able to get over much more regularly.

I hate work but its been the major cause of none appearance this season! The Paintbrushs haven't been out unlike some of the rumours ;-) lol.
The Aviation industry is manic with ever tightening deadlines and customers reluctant to pay unless the contracts are meet so been doing my bit and chipping in on the weekends and late evenings.
But on the upside the paintbrush will be there Saturday ;-) Can anyone tell me if there is a coach running?
