Right guys, assuming that that the flood waters are subsided by Saturday i need to get an Urgent clean-up team down the ground! There is no doubt that there is going to be no end of work to do and i need as many people as possible to volunteer! This club is going to be in serious trouble otherwise!!
Simon
22nd July 2007, 11:40 PM
Me and Pablo will be 110% be there.
I'm going to try and get as many people as I can to help.
The club needs all the help it can get :(
Pablo

there was when i left but the water was rising rapidly! by now i can guarantee that the water will be in the changing rooms, burger bar and the executive lounge!!!
Neil
23rd July 2007, 12:09 AM
thats not good, I reckon it'll go over the goalposts and if it does there will be no way of getting in down there without waders
Clifty
23rd July 2007, 12:12 AM
to put it into context the picture that i took of the T-end you can still see the advertising boards in the middle. By the time we left the water was flowing over that wall into the T-End!!

Do we really have no insurance? That would be seriously bad news if we had to foot the bill for all this by ourselves!!!

Apparently after the 2000 disaster noone would insure us against water damage!!

the floodlights will defo be gone! the electric boxes for them in the chicken run were completely submerged! only by a miracle will they work again!!

I dont think the flooding will be gone by Saturday. There is more rain to come and it hasnt even peaked yet. Why is it that whenever things start to look on the up something always has to go wrong?
Dr Wart Hoover

maybe too early to make decisions - should we all buy season tickets now to bring the cash in?
having assembled a squad which can take on this league, we want to give them the support they need to make it happen ... if someone could issue a specific challenge, then I'm sure the fans will respond ...
we have been here before - and the memory of the Caped Crusader will guide us through this one ... (We all knew it would happen , but maybe not so soon and not in July)

Lets put it bluntly. WE WONT HAVE MONTHS, we will all have to pull together on this one. The clean up will have to be organised asap.....we need to be ready for the start of the season, never mind the friendlies.
We cannot and must not lose the Team Tim has assembled. THIS IS GOING TO BE A TIME OF ROLLING UP EVERYONES SLEEVES AND GETTING ON WITH IT !

Booo :D :D
I hope we can clear the water as soon as possible. But on the brightside we aren't the only teams to have suffered from floods this year....Sheffield Wednesday, Banbury, Nuneaton, Pershore Town......and probably many more too.
Is this the sort of thing we could go to the FA for, for a special grant to help us out? Or isn't that feasible?
Edit: I didn't find the joke the least bit funny either.......

I should think that by the time we got a response from the FA, the season could well be over !:brickwall:

I know for a fact that John Davis has been putting in some 30/40 hrs per week recently at MP. All on a voluntary basis. Some of the time I have been down the ground with him, like a lot of other people.
At the moment I just feel physically sick !

True
Maybe we should try and get Pamjit Dhanda involved, he has Good connections with the club.
Just imagine if something like this happened at Kingsholm, the Citizen would be squeezing everything out of it for all its worth...asking people for donations...getting the local Government involved probably...lets see how they cover this story in the coming days....

Effectively, does this all mean that our home Pre-season friendlies (v Barf and FGR) will not be played? As well as Newport v Brizzle Rovers?
Or is there still a ray of light?

It may take a while for the water to drain away. Then comes the cleanup and Health and Safety inspections.

You can certainly count me in.
While everybody is keen to get stuck in, you must wait until the environmental health give advice - it may look like water! The last thing you need to do is make yourself unwell.
Will the floodlights be ruined? Well, not necessarily. They have survived being under water before and perhaps will again - though clearly they will need to dry and out and have some kind of service as a minimum. Truth is we dont know yet. As for the rumour on here about flood insurance - well lets wait until the club make some formal comment, if indeed they need to, before we start jumping to any conclusions.
There is a lot of hard work to be done, thats for sure, but this is Gloucester City AFC and we have faced worst problems than this and come out the other side a lot stronger, so there is no reason this should not happen again.
Clifty is right though - when the call comes the club will need everybody to pull together in the same direction and get stuck in.

well said!if worse cause scenario occurs surely we can use another teams ground in the meantime?having said that im sure even if meadow park is unusable the usual lot will still do everything they can to stop city using kingsholm.i hope the city helps, but dont hold your breath.unfortunatley, its probably down to us supporters again.

Absolute disaster the flooding which has hit Gloucester especially at a time of real positives about the future of the club.
Why didn't someone just break into the club shop and save the stock. It's okay to say this in hignsight.
Surely now there must be some help available from the FA, there is lots of money in the game, it's at times like this money needs to spiral down to the likes of us, Banbury, I believe also Witney may be hit, Sheffield Wednesday also have been hit by floods.
Also some of the businesses that may have supported us, may also have to deal with flooding issues of their own.

As the electricity may go down at any time this may be my last opportunity to add my name to the clean-up gang.
As Captain Oates (for it is he) once said - "I am just going outside and may be some time".

The clubshop is protected by metal bars. Unfortunately the pikey kids in the area like to break into the ground!!

Can I also suggest that fans and those sympathetic to what has happened but further away from the City feel free to express their support through their cheque books.
I'd suggest making cheques to the Gloucester City Supporters Trust rather than the club. I think we're going to be shelling out for a whole lot of repair bills, sand, disinfectant, paint etc.
I know it's tough - but let's try and stay as positive as we can. We've been through this twice before, and I think this time we're better organised than we were then.

Been without Phone line or Internet here in Swindon since Friday due to the flooding.
Was out of the office all day today also but when I checked the forum at about 15.30 today was greeted with the devastating pictures of MP underwater.
As my involvement with City is relatively new, and limited, I have to say that I feel for every single "True" Glos fan, staff, management etc etc at this current time.
The vibe on this site has been absolutely tremendous over the last few months and I have really enjoyed being part of it. To go from all that to where we are today is a massive kick in the b******s and something that the club and everyone involved with it does not deserve one bit.
Im sure though that the club will pull through, and whilst I will be on holiday from the beginning of next week, I would like to play some part in the clean up operation if req'd when I get back.
I also hope that the bigger local clubs in the area dig deep and help where they can.

Neil, you have been posting details of your situation on other clubs sites, such as ours at Clevedon and at Mangotsfield. Once you've got things sorted in terms of where donations can be sent etc could you post the details on those same sites ? I'm sure there are many non-league fans and clubs who would like to help in some way if they know what is needed. I read about your shop losing a lot of its stock and I'm sure we can help out with some old programmes from our shop when you visit us in November for example. In the meantime you have the sympathy of everyone at Clevedon I'm sure - we may be rivals but we all follow the beautiful game for the same reasons. Best wishes and good luck, you've got another supporters and friends at MP that should see you through this crisis.

Steve,
See the thread near the top titled donations. It would be a huge help if you, as a Clevedon Fan were to post this information on your site. Rather than us asking everyone for money/help!
Thanks for your messages of support and if any of you guys are free to come help when we can get in, then please please come along!!

The trouble is going to be, water. We will need to wash down just about everything with some good disinfectant, remember that are some real nasties in the flood water.
So based on that, I would have thought we have to wait for the water to be switched back on, they are saying 14 days.:(

We could do with the Fire Brigade and their equipment to hose the place down ! With all these different fire brigades in Gloucester at the moment with their heavy duty pumping gear and barriers I'm sure if someone senior from the Club approached the Fire Service they could sort us out a way of pumping the ground out.Rather than waiting for it just to subside.

They would have to pump the surrounding fields as well. We are totally engulfed by the Severn. I am hoping that once the water level decreases the Fire Brigade will help us.
