It has been hammering down since at least 4.30am this morning. Do you think that theres a chance that tomorrows game against Telford could be the first ever pre-season friendly called off due to a waterlogged pitch??

Every chance I would have thought. Looking at the state of my lawn, which has never been a lake in the past, MP's pumps must be working overtime.

I have just been sent home from Shire Hall due to flooding, Quay Street is flooded and from my office I could see the Fire Crew taking a rubbber dingy down past KC's (or whatever that club is called now) to inspect the situation. Traffic is absolute chaos!
I think the game will most probably be off unless the rain subsides, which apparently it is suppose to at around tea time.

We got a game tonight that should still be on:D, Stopped raining here in Bath after pissing down all morning, there is still no lying water on the pitch. Your place floods easy so probably. Good I'm not coming then like I was going to lol

I think we should forget about tomorrow's game then! If the rain persists I can't see how the game will not be called off :(
I was looking forward to the Telford Friendly, probably the biggest club we were playing in Pre Season for travelling support.

Never mind the football, its getting home that worries me! Presently marooned in Bishops Cleeve with little prospect of getting home for a good few hours yet, if at all. All roads in and out are flooded. Apparently the water is up to 4 foot deep around Smiths and there is a rescue boat being used outside Blooms Garden Centre, which is just along from the race course. Even walking home is a no go - apparently its up to waist deep in places
Have not heard from Shaun yet about the game tomorrow. Am not sure whether or not the official decison will be made tonight or in the morning as to whether the game goes ahead or not. The official website is the place to check everything out
So come on, it looks like I might be sleeping under my desk tonight so keep the posts coming - I need cheering up!!

Swindon all washed out.
Took me three detours to pick the kids up after work due to roads being closed and I had to drive through what looked like a river not a road.
The missus finished work just before 5 and is not even half way home yet. Last I heard she was sat in a traffic jam reading the paper.
She will not be a happy bunny when she gets home :(
The rain has eased off a fair bit but has in no way stopped.
The good news....Asda wallmart is a short drive away will a selection of fine beers and meals for two  Will even walk it or cycle if I have to :D
Sorry to hear some of you may be stuck at work etc.
Can't see the game being on tomorrow, hopefully it is because I had the missus not talking to me for the best part of two days because she had plans tomorrow and I told her I wanted to go to football :(

I think you could be in for the night Dave, looking at the pictures on the bbc gloucestershire site of Bishops Cleeve,:( I'm sure a few of us on here will keep your spirits up! It's just took my sister in law 2 1/2 hours to get from Gloucester City Centre to Abbeydale. It's just crazy, this has got to be the wettest summer on record!

From the looks of Lower Quay street I wouldn't hold out too much hope for the ground - have to ask what Chris Martin was doing in Swindon Village - shouldn't he be in a studio somewhere warm recording a new Coldplay album

my advice would be too unfortuneately cancel the game. you don't want the pitch you guys have been working hard on to be ruined by one silly pre season match. the flooding is everywhere, the bypass by my house is well up above the knee. plenty of people have abandoned there cars on higher ground.

Looking at those pics compared to the ones on BBC Wiltshire and without a doubt you guys had it worse than us.
But the missus is still only half way home from a journey which would normally take 25 mins max.....She left before 5 and its now gone 7 !

Thanks all. Still here! Fair play to the ladies and gents in the canteen, they have just laid on some hot food for us and the TV is on as well. A real home from home! The rain seems to have eased a little. Saw the photos of the cricket club and the changing rooms that the youth teams use - looks pretty grim. Fingers crossed Meadow Park has escaped the worst of it. I was just told that the canal is right up to the rim.
The mobile phone networks are not working either, so am not sure if we have a firm decison on the game, but i am sure it will be posted up on the official website as soon as the decison is made.
About to venture out to the car to recover the British Gas Business stewards jackets that I had washed ready for the match. Might prove useful pillows later on....with the old Doc Martens flag as a blanket...who knows. Ray Mears eat your heart out
Fingers crossed though that the emergency services will have managed to open up a safe path out of Cleeve before they are needed. What a hell of a job those ladies and gents have had to day.

Not a chance for the game today, if it could be played the pitch will be ruined for the whole season. Bit gutted however really looking forward to the game today.
Looks like it's gonna be Bath City at home next then (if the rain ever stops). Really want to beat Bath it would show a improvement in the side.

If its any consolation Neil I've just had the best shower of my life, it was golden. And the early warning enabled me also to make sure the swimmnig pool was filled up, and the gardens hosed down in case the mercury rises steeply during the next couple of days. In case you're interested I've got two acres, and they're bringing tears to my eyes.
Just out to wash the car, and put on the dishwasher, washing machine.

The house me and Mrs Wirral are set to buy (subject to contract) has just been shown on telly... under water in Tewkesbury.
Couldn't see if the actual street was under water but everything around it looked brown and wet. Does anyone know if the Walton Cardiff area is completely submerged? I know the area is normally immune to flooding, but I guess this is an extreme special case.

I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole if it's subject to flooding.

Neil's right Spandau, this could be a lucky escape for you. Things are only going to get worse with global warning. If you want to take it anyway now's the time to knock £5K-£10K off the price to deal with future costs of flooding. You will probably struggle to sell on, though, so my advice is don't touch with a flood rescuer's barge pole.
A chap I used to play football with moved into the Greyhound Gardens area of Gloucester about a month ago and within 48 hours his house was deluged, no doubt it has happened again although far worse.

I currently have my kids with me here in Weston, due to their new house being very close to being underwater (fortunately it has only been their garden that has been flooded so far). My advice Spandau is to have serious second thoughts about buying that house.

Guess its better that it will happen before we move in so we can still pull out. Unlucky for the current residents, they are in the same position as us but buying in the High Street, so no escape for them!
This all means I'm going to keep my barge pole in the car now and not touch any houses with it.
If the water gets cut off surely they won't be letting me work in Shire Hall tomorrow. Can't have us Council workers working without a cup of tea!

Wow - I lived there for 20+ years and never saw the brook get like that - Guess if I was ever looking for a reason to be glad that I moved down here, this has to be it - seems a bit weird that I can look out of my window and see across the Severn into Wales yet don't have any worries about flooding whatsoever.
