Dom, I've always used T-Enders fantastics directions whenever travelling 'away', but I also found these on the Saracens website:

Follow directions into Cheltenham following signs for railway station.
At station roundabout take Gloucester Rd, in a northerly direction for approx 2 miles.
Turn left at lights past Tesco entrance onto Tewkesbury Road, follow road past The Range Superstore over railway bridge.
Take 1st left and then 1st left again, then 1st left into service road follow road round into Petersfield Park carpark.

Rio, are you sure you're not too fragile to visit a part of Cheltenham that isn't Charlton Kings?? The last time I went to their ground they'd just installed ten foot iron railings around the ground because the eight foot ones weren't high enough!!!

Looking at the skies - the first fifty in will be fine, anyone else take an umbrella!

We won 3-1, Griffin 2 and Bevan.

We only had about 5 possible First teamers playing at the start (Whitts, Bevan, Griffin, Buttery and Ricco) with the rest made up of Trailists and Youth Teamers.

Whittington went off injured during the Second half which at first looked fairly bad, but he was limping slightly when he got up so I think it was a Dead Leg.

The attendance was around 80 from what I counted :D

Any of the trialists look good?

I thought Sam Ellis had a really good game, and nearly bagged himself a goal.

Team was: (please anyone correct me if this is not right)

1. Trialist (Ellott something)
2. Ollie Holder
3. Luke Buttery
4. Matt Smith
5. Ashley Thomas
6. Adam Shakespeare
7. Marc Richards
8. Sam Ellis
9. Jody Bevan
10. Scott Griffin
11. Michael Whittington

Subs used: Reid, Allard, Thompson, Jody Taylor

i saw that ashley thomas was mentioned in the stroud news & journal and linked with a move to gloucester city after leaving slimbridge. although there was also some info on him linking up with shortwood but i can imagine city being much more attractive.

I was talking to someone yesterday who saw Ashley play a few times last seaon - says that he is very good in the air - and quick - but his distribution isn't very good .........

.......sounds like Gary Kemp to me

Did Ashley have a good game ?
Thought he did quite well against Salisbury and Kev didn't have anything negative to say about him.

And Ollie back with City after training and playing a game with the Chip n ham
If the choice is his surely it has to be City ?

None of the Trialists did badly overall. Ash Thomas and Jodi Taylor look really good, Matt Smith also looks pretty decent too. Would be good Squad players I think.

We looked good tonight with some nice one touch passes and it could have been more than 3.1 in the end.

I thought Griff looked really lively upfront, Ellis was good in midfield, Richards was organising everyone and Buttery had a good game at the back with one mazy run near the end.

Was also nice to see Bevan play 90 minutes and looked as though he enjoyed his goal. A couple of seasons ago we would have lost a game like that but after going 1.0 down we were always in control of the match even with plenty of first teamers watching from the side lines.

Other than Buttery the only defender in the starting 11 I thought looked decent was Ashley Thomas - the others (in my opinion) wouldn't cut it in our league.

Nah mate, I'm a bit of a 'social chameleon'[?]....and I had the chauffeur stay in the car. Actually I had to used to quite often go to the flats that are on the slip-road to the 'ground' without actually knowing that there was a pitch just 30 yards further down the lane

Anyhoo, the game was OK considering the length of the grass. The Saracens took the lead with a well-worked and finished goal. Griff again looked lively for us and everyone was 'well chuffed' for Jody Bevan on getting his goal [an excellent far-post, cushioned header after good work and cross by Jody Taylor]. Sam Ellis did quite well and Alex Allard also looked very competent and assured

the words "Jody Taylor did well" have come out of every friendly so far!

I think the champagne moment came when the ball flew off the pitch, only for the Cleric to send it back into the arms of the thrower-in with the smartest of cushion headers.
