What a shambles the BBC made of that. Metallica, Beastie Boys etc get cut to go to pre recorded performances of some Lazy Town soundalike in Brazil and Katie sodding Meula.:tosser:

Just glad they didnt ruin the Foo Fighters performance and showed all of it, easily the best of the day. The only band that seemed to get the crowd going (except for the corporates at the front..)

Shame that was ruined by "headliner" Madonna with her "Hey You" song she'd written especially. Complete drivel, plus she was joined by what seemed to be the st winifreds school choir. I seriously thought she was close to blaring out Grandma. No doubt she already has the ball rolling towards adopting all 30 of them...

As for the whole saving the planet, cutting down on fuels/electricity etc message, I did find it amusing that they decided to cut to Graham Norton all the time and his studio was covered in plasma tv screens, and lots of expensive lighting. Oh and that most of the bands were flown there in private jets. And they wanted this to be a global event, but if more people are watching on the tele isnt that bad for the environment???..

But hey if the Pussy Cat Dolls are telling the world to stop using cars then it's bound to work! I Mean look what Nick Kershaw did at Live Aid in 85. Theres no poverty in Africa now...

Not that im a cynic or anything obviously

Just like Razorlight finishing their set and then "jetting" up to Scotland for T in the park!

i switched on occasionally - there seemed to be more talk than music during the day - the late session was random - 1 or 2 songs by each act - from around the world with no talking - I've recorded the rest of it, hoping to be able to whizz through and find the good bits ...

were Spinal Tap any good?

Spinal Tap started with Stonehenge, wheeled out the old dwarfes and rocks and first thing they said was "Hello Wimbledon" :)

Seemed to go right over most of the audiences head though.

Also the BBC cocked up again as they cut away from them after 1 and a half songs then returned to them literally at the end of the set when they were on stage with just about every bass player who was there.
