I was truly gutted about yesterday.
I think we saw the ever increasing improvement of our defence during that game, the heroic defending that we saw just proved this. The game had 0-0 written all over it in my point of view. We were incredibly unlucky but hopefully we will pick up against Halesowen next week.

I think what Tim said is spot on, it was gutting to concede in the last minute, but in the big picture it isn't going to change our season around...

I disagree, I dont think we were unlucky. In terms of chances-Chippenham were all over us. We had some amazingly herioc last gasp clearances and headers off the line. To the point where I lost count how many times this happened.
We had perhaps 4 chances all game. Two in the first half which were tame toe pokes which were easy for their 12 year old lookalike goalkeeper. 2nd half Jimmy Cox really should have buried a golden chance, which was a great move but sadly he didnt compose himself and he blasted it wide. The only other chance was frankly the most blatant penalty this season which somehow the ref didnt give.
The ref has to have a mention, as countless times Chipp's number 3 took out our players and didnt even get a talking to. Several decisions he made were utterly bizzare, giving free kicks to them for next to nothing.
The major dissapointment for me (other than obviously the final kick in teeth at literally the last minute) was the (few) times that we were awarded a free kick. We wasted them. Too many times we try these elaborate side passes which are either over hit or falls at the first hurdle. We have the players in the box, just put it in there for christ sake!!!
The atmosphere is still really poor at their pad, and despite a few minor cosmetic changes the ground is still a complete dive. The uncovered end had odd bits of wood loosely attached to make sure the fence doesnt fall over. I really hope they didnt pay the gypsies that must have done this.
The Chippenham singing contingent seemed to consisit of the patients of Chippenham mental health hospital on day release. Perhaps they all get a lift with the hospital that broadcast their games on the air? Couldnt understand half their chants, they seem to have their own language in that neck of the woods.
The stewards are still as bad as ever. Don't hang your flags up over the hoardings as the local butcher may not get his advertising in the local rag, heaven forbid. And whatever you do stand behind the yellow line. I think they would have gone to def con 1 had we ignored that request again. Think we were one warning away from tear gas. A good following by us again, but its really hard to get any kind of atmosphere in that place.
Alas to say I still havent seen us win there
Also, nearly forgot. May I pass my congratulations onto Chippenham who I believe also won the champions league on saturday. At least thats what I presumed theyd won after watching their elaborate celebrations at the final whistle.

I was having a look at the NLP paper today and noticed that Danny Hodnett was on the bench for Worcester the previous night (Friday vs. Barrow). I don't know if he got on but is this kind of thing allowed? It seems really confusing, is he our player for the rest of the season or is just going to keep yo-yoing between us and Worcester?
Can I just add that there no.12 was cack :D

Can't be he's not led on the ground feigning injury!

To be honest I thought City had done enough for a point but games last up until the last kick, if its a lesson learned for next year then we should be alright. Still can't fathom how the ref didn't give City the most cast iron penalty ever but some you win some you lose
Oh yes and no standing on the yellow lines, mind you they did have a point, it looked as if the ground repairs were done by the same lot that "improved" Northwood.

Despite city showing poor control and poor distribution throughout the match, I thought they were unlucky not to get a draw. We only created a few half chances but Jimmy Cox had a glorious chance to enable city to take all 3 points - just a shame it was fluffed. I've now seen city lose three times at Chip N Ham - I feel your pain, Bob!

I thought the pitch was in an awful state. The ball continually bobbled up and the bounce deceived City players on more than one occasion. If you couple with that the relatively steep slope, you'd have to say the home team had the advantage of being accustomed to playing on it every week, and played in a physical route one style that suited the conditions best.

Poor game in in a naff ground on a noddy pitch...
Just can't understand why players at this level would ever want to play weekly on a surface which is much more suited to cardboard sliding... and the North Gloucester League
Surely to god they'd never be allowed in The Conference with a field that has a fence around it...

C'mon the ground ain't that bad. At least it has 3 covered sides which is more than be said for Yate, Clevedon & Ciren!

No one can argue that Saturdays game wasn't affected by the slope because it was... pitches at this level should be somewhere near level or within a certain tolerance - and that includes Chippenham, Bath, Ciren, and others...
As a nation we flatter ourselves thinking we're much better at football than what we really are and battle with technique on the best of surfaces. These actors need the best stage they can get, the audience just a little comfort and a friendly refreshment tray...
