For some crazy reason I just thought about registering for the FGR Forum. Well, that is until I saw that they wanted your full name, address and telephone number.
Yeah, right :tosser:
And people think I'm strict on here :p

i like the fact that the people who run the football club come on and talk to us personally - it gives a good relationship between fans and the people who are running the club. i don't see clubs like oxford having their chairman or people who run the club on their forum. its similar with city seen as i think your secretary/press officer comes on here and gives you the latest info as soon as it is heard.

I have to say it is a bit OTT (bit like me being banned from the arcade for not being a GCFC Fan :D) and p*sses of a lot of lots ofother fans in our league,
I gave up posting on it ages ago and have no posts on there at all now at all.

hmm, the FGR Forum appears to be down. And I was thinking of going to watch them play (if they're home) today and have no way of checking....

Just dragging this topic to the top to ask any FGR fans on here that given that the club are in possibly their highest ever position, ever, why oh why are there so few posts on the club forum?
Is there an alternative one that I don't know about?

Good question.
In general it has only ever been used by a few regular posters, but seems to have a lot more readers. My take on it is that FGR don't have a typical demographic of support. There are a lot people who won't rock the boat; either because they have their own agenda, it gives them something to gossip about, they can't be bothered or don't see it as socially acceptable. However, the whole registration process puts some people off ... especially the personal details bit!
Personally I tend not to post much for two reasons. Firstly, I don't feel even one twentieth as much for FGR as I used to for a variety of reasons (don't get me wrong as I'm a huge Jim Harvey supporter and have been for a good few years). Secondly, because I know that things get taken out of context very, very easily on that forum. When people look for a demon they'll find one. I can't be bothered to waste time on them anymore. There are some people who have openly told me they won't post because they've seen how opinions have been turned on some forum users.

I'm confused, do people actually put their real name and contact details on registration forms?
Thr FGR forum does make me laugh though, they got all upset about someone taking photos at a game, said it breached people's privacy:cry:

Reading between the lines on the photo thread, then to be fair to the club they had a complaint about breach of privacy and were compelled to act on it. I think if people take pictures of the game and not the crowd then the issue shouldn't raise its head again, but that's just my take.
I post a lot on there because I allow myself to be wound up by others far too easily, though I am cutting down these days. I am wrongly labelled the 'most posted' which I find annoying and embarrassing

The entire privacy issue is completely laughable. The longer I've watched FGR in recent years the more I've become disillusioned with things behind the scenes. Parish pump does not do it justice. They need to wake up and understand that because a person complains about something or other, it does not mean they have to jump up and down in a crazy panic.
Anybody with half a brain knows that if you go to a public gathering - and that's what a football match is - you will get looked at by lots of eyes. Chances are you may be caught on imagining equipment, whether it be CCTV, match cameras or stills camera. And, guess what, images are captured for one reason: TO BE LOOKED AT!
So, next time I got to a Football League match I will ask the police not to focus their CCTV cameras anywhere near me. It is a breach of my privacy.
Next time I'm at a match filmed by Setanta I will complain if I am featured in a crowd shot. The same as in the local press etc.. Heaven help them if I'm picked out for a FACE IN THE CROWD COMPETITION. Nevermind if I go to Wembley and get singled out on the big screen ... yes, here I am amongst 90,000 others but you pick on me and you're violating my human rights.
Worse of all ... are we breaching the privacy of the players by watching them play football?
Some people probably don't understand why I get so annoyed about things such as this, but it's a reflection of what life in 2007 has become. If you point a camera you're either accused of breaching someone's privacy or of being a risk to security or potential terrorist. Of course, people are happy for you to point a camera at them if they're making money from it.

What I really want to know is whether the people who complained about the link have also complained to Neil about the photos on his website? Have they asked him to remove them? If not, are they really so daft and completely stupid to think that removal of a link to the pics means nobody will see them? Completely and utterly bizarre. No, moronic. I imagine it's probably the same idiot who moaned about my image of a healthy cow.
I am going to suggest that Yokel's image of a rabbit is removed as it is unsavoury. I don't want my children knowing that their meal of rabbit comes from a rabbit.

I have been away in rehab for a few days, and I come back to a big row over Neil’s photos of one of FGRs games something’s never change.
And as for this

I gave up posting on it ages ago, because unless you tow the "party line" you just get abused for it, thankfully some do still talk out LG and Turnking spring to mind.
And No " Is there an alternative one " not to my knowledge, but it might be a top secret one I have not been invited to use :)

Nope.
Still not received a reply to my email that I sent to the club either asking for details so that I could do the decent thing and remove them.

(Oi LG, that's the Easter Bunny what was accidentally killed by Sigmund Froyd. Show some respect)
I just wish there was enough interest in the club for a second, independent forum, but for the time being we have to do as we're told.

Neil, if your photo caused that much offence I would have thought a reply would have been sent to you by now. Without wanting to jump to conclusions it makes me wonder whether the complaint originated from outside of FGR's offices. Nudge, nudge! Stinks of a convenient excuse to me. :tosser:
