Can anyone think of a player with a more foreign sounding name to don a City shirt?

He was a Brazilian who played for the reserves in their 4-0 win against Stoke City in 1997.

Looking at the match report, can you name the three players in the Stoke line-up, one of which went on to play for the Tigers and the other two who have played against us this season. Not bad considering it was 13 years ago!

Kwesi Cairns played for us, we had a good song for him but he was useless!

Think Joe O'Connor played for Hednesford (or Halesowen?)

No idea on the other

The "J" can be misleading, it was a James, not Joe, although it was a good guess.

Joe O'Connor was in his prime at Hednesford then, they'd just pipped us to the title to year before Gresley did. He was one of the few players I recall having a name that fitted properly into the "Super, Super Joe..... Super Joe O'Connor" type song.

Spot on with Kwesi though.

Joe O'Connor being the black bloke up front for them, ridiculously quick if its the one I remember? The games against Hednesford that season were quality.

Yeah, he was as good a player as there was around at the time. Our 3-1 win up there at Christmas was among the best City wins I've seen.

Just in case anyone was itching to know the answer to this....

Ashley Wooliscroft played for Stafford on loan from Fleetwood in the 0-1 at theirs, then played for Fleetwood when they beat us 1-3 at Highbury and will probably play for Stafford today because he's signed for them permanently now.

The other was Jamie Godbold who played for Lowestoft Town and was billed by their radio blokes as their best player.

I'm surprised that Dr Wart, being the devout Lowestoft and Stafford fan didn't get these.....

He was the player who left the pitch at Hednesford with Gary Kemp's tooth in his knee. Gary Kemp, meanwhile, left the pitch for the dentist. (Well they went off together anyway)
