That time again. The countries participating are Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela...two countries from an other football federation are invited to participate.

Mexico and USA are the two invited nations.
Brazil are the current holders.

The tournament is to be held from 26 June - 15 July 2007.

Group A
Venezuela
Uruguay
Bolivia
Peru

Group B
Brazil
Mexico
Chile
Ecuador

Group C
Argentina
United States
Paraguay
Colombia

Well, Venezuela and Uruguay have to be smiling about their pairing with Bolivia and Peru! The home team once again given a big hand.

Group B looks really tough with Brazil and Mexico which both have as good a record as any teams, even more so than Argentina, in the last 3-4 Copa Americas (excluding Colombia 2001 which didn't have full teams playing there), then add in Ecuador who've become a tough opponent and Chile who have a good young team and this looks to me like the Group of Death no doubt.

But Argentina's group with Colombia, US and Paraguay is far from easy either. I'm confident of the team Basile is building in Argentina and Colombia and Paraguay always are tough opponents. As for the US it depends on what team they bring. A first line team could be difficult but a weakened team will struggle, as US teams often do, away from home.

This is going to be a very good tournament, can't wait for it to begin.

I wouldn't be suprised if Venezuela do very well in the Tournament, but with Argentina's strength compared to everyone else, I'm persuaded towards them.

What are your views on the Copa America 2007?

Frankly, they are crap! And USA and Mexico are alot stronger.

They lost to Guadeloupe recently in the CONCACAF Gold Cup Group Stages and Guadeloupe aren't even a FIFA Member! That sums up why really.

They are hosting the Under 20 World Cup at the end of the Month so it will be interesting how the Canadian Youngsters will develop

I though Guadaloupe was some kind of food.

The USA only beat Canada 2-1 last week. Think there was a bit of controversy involved.

True, but on the whole, the Canadian National Team isn't nearly as strong as the USA and Mexico, hence why they are regurlarly invited.

Has anyone been staying up watching this lately?

Its been phenomenal! Every score so far in the Tournament has been something of a shock, Peru beat Uruguay 3-0 where the Peruvians were extremely impressive. Venezuela drew 2-2 with Bolivia in an enthralling contest. Last night Mexico beat Brazil 2-0, a fairly major upset there but due to Dunga not having a full selection of players, its understandable and Chile beat a very strong Ecuador side 3-2!

Every match has been brilliant so far and I'm looking forward to watching Argentina v USA and Colombia v Paraguay tonight

I was in Venezuela last month and there was an amazing atmosphere in advance of the footy; everyone was talking about it.

Posters were displayed everywhere and in central Caracas there were big parties to celebrate the coming of the tournament. I attended one of them and there were bands playing on a stage in the middle of a shopping centre, together with dancers (on stilts!) wearing the colours of the teams.

The tournament mascot is a parrot, and there was a huge version of him wandering around the crowd!

A friend of mine is over there now, and he says it's amazing. It's a true carnival of football . . . with everyone united in their desire to stuff the States!
