I would like to send my thanks out to all the management staff and all the players after a great performance today and i want to urge the players to enjoy themselves in the blue square conference south,

Well done lads, have a pat on the back.

Oldie

congrats to all concerned. I've been waiting years for this moment and I am black and blue where I have been pinchig myself.

weston branch

I was so gutted that due to work I couldn't make it today - even at 2 I was thinking if I could get out now I should make it in time for the start of the second half, but alas I din't finish till 3. I was so nervous waiting for the texts to come in, I'd hate to think what I would have been like had I been there. When I got the call at the final whistle I couldn't stop crying tears of joy. CITY you have made us proud today, long may it continue. Congratulations to EVERYBODY involved!!

Oldie

I presume that Cirencester's ground is up to standard for us next season!!!
Perhaps this brilliant win will encourage the council in getting the ground problem sorted quick.

NI-Branch

I believe Cirencester's ground is okay for Blue Square South, but we need to press on with our own ground.

NI-Branch

BBC Radio Surrey online - Brilliant commentary online and then in second half injury time with 3 minutes to go - lost the signal.

Went to BBC Radio Gloucestershire and caught the last 30 seconds.

longdogs

Stuart

For any fan that this hasn't quite sunk in on, I am sure it will when the fixture list next season comes out.

Forester

Absolutely brilliant achievement especially when you consider everything that has happened to us over the past two years. Hopefully this is just the beginning for a club who quite simply has the best supporters in the world.

The Cleric

The first game I ever saw Gloucester City play was on Good Friday 1959. It has taken a lifetime for Gloucester City to get out of the Southern League and I never thought i'd see the day. Congratulations to all concerned with this historic occasion.

DRAKEY

Bin a long time comming....

I don't think I have ever felt such emotions in a football season....

Doubt it will sink in until tomorrow!

bully74uk

Congratulations to everybody involved with GCFC on your achievements today and this season.
I have enjoyed being part of it immensely and hope that it continues.

On a personal note today is a double celebration for me and my family as my son also won his cup final at the county ground 2-0 and scored a corker for the first goal.

So for today instead of bully its double top for me !

just come back from the regal, city players and fans in there celebrating, fantastic stuff. Boris said he was surprised they never went with three up front, I pointed out to him that we had scored in every away game this season, he said he had no idea!

I know exactly where you are coming from on today of all days, but I feel I should just point out that Cheltscum fans are being generally very complimentary of your efforts today on their forum.
(Tin hat on and awaiting the hail of abuse....)

Darran

I still cant believe it. For me its been about 15 years of supporting City and pretty much disappointment after disappointment and I began to think Id never see a day like today. Finally weve done it and we deserve it. Ive been dreaming since we got to the play offs about winning today and it felt so good. Its going to take a while to sink in

the_other_two

It's still sinkin in down here in Happymead where the champagne and stella has been flowin all night. This was a special day. My first game was Havant and Warloovile bout 19923 - this makes up for Dagenham at Slough, Salisbury at home, Wisbech away, Aylesbury away and all the scum/FGR success. Home town team with local players on a shoestring budget.\n\nHere's to Blue Square S/N next season. We're out of the southern league. who would've thought. Someone wake me up, this must be a dream.

Dr Wart Hoover

still drinking it in, but this starts to put to bed many bad seasons

YYYYYYEESS !!!!

kkhh

Very proud of all at the club

KevinAnderson

Well done to all, off and on the pitch. You are one remarkable club, a credit to the City of Gloucester, and I hope the powers-that-be will get you back to a new ground very soon. Trust me, it wasn't easy doing Farnboro-angled commentary and trying to sound disappointed when Kev Sawyer made that astonishing save from Michael Charles (the moment of the match, for me).

I have followed you lot for literally fifty years, since my old dad took me to Longlevens in the mid-50s aged about five ! I met people yesterday that I've known for decades - Dougie, Adie T, Tim, plenty more - and this success is above all a reward for those of you who have kept the faith. This exceeds the "almost-promotions" to the Conference of the 90s; it exceeds the Trophy semi-final; it's up there with the 68-69 Ian McIntosh promotion year.

Next year is a new adventure - but not impossible: Conference South always has about six big clubs streaking away at the top, but a perfectly beatable middle and lower table. The passion and commitment of City can take you a long way. I'll look forward to seeing you all at the games in the south-east.

Best wishes

(Top post by the Hednesford guy, btw - this is not the best time for knocking Chelt fans, when they are actually complimenting you...)

Neil

He's Hereford

You weren't the only radio guy there....

Hereford, Schmereford, sorry Neil, brain doesn't function at 9am Sunday mornings...

Droitwich Tigers

Thankyou and congratulations to Boris, Adie and the rest of the coaching staff, to Neil Mustoe and the players, to Tim and our chairman Dave Phillips the executive committee and the supporters trust. We had a wonderful day out, the barmy army were amazing and we never thought we would be doing a pitch invasion with our grandchildren.

A truly remarkable achievement.

shelley

Someone please tell me yesterday wasn't just a dream. Can't believe after all this time we've finally done it!

This is something everyone at the club deserves we have the best bunch of players, management and supporters for miles around.

After 20 years of witnessing near misses and disappointments i'm glad i was there to see a new piece of Glos City history being made.

Hi Kevin, Sledge (FGR) here. I thought of poor you doing that commentary!

Having watched the team on Tuesday night, and previous to that the first game at TNL v Brackley and the Shortwood Cup match, they've come an awful long way and are a different team now. Good stuff.

Dr Tiger Andy

Brilliant well done lads. I have never beens so proud of anything in all my life. Beautiful!

Joe

Well done to all the players, staff and management. Thankyou for giving me the best season of my Gloucester City supporting life. It has been fantastic, and it's all done to you lot.

ade

And, I think a BIG THANKYOU should go to all you folks as well. You are as big a part of the team as we are

And it was about time the Barmy Army chant made an appearance.

Forty years a supporter and finally success.A Farnborough steward said to me that our supporters were the loudest and the best courteous well behaved crowd they had ever had at Cherrywood Rd! Speaks volumes to me.Its like a dream come true at last.
Lets hope Gloucester Rugby et al sit up and take note.
Lets get back to a raised MP and continue living the dream....

John

After being a regular reader of this site for a long time and finally registering months ago it's about time I made this first post .. it's great to be able to use it to say congratulations to all at City on this season !!

I've followed City since my first game at Meadow Park at the beginning of the 1988/89 season and so its great to finally see the club get promoted to the conference south - hopefully this will be the beginning of a very good next few years.

I'm not one of the regulars - up until 1999/2000 I usually got to between 20 and 25 home/away games but since then its been between around 10 per season (often away games) due to living a distance from Gloucestershire, family commitments and also going to watch Glos play rugby as well (despite what some think there are plenty of people who enjoy football and rugby!!).

The loyalty of the supporters has been superb over the years and so its also great to see that rewarded .. again well done to all concerned.
