I have just announced the date of our preseason friendly against CHeltenham Town on the OFFICIAL SITE (http://www.gloucestercityafc.com/)

Hope that both teams field their stongest 11

Have they got a "strongest" 11?

If that was the case we would win by double figures.

Malabus, I don't know if you are some spotty teenager that has a lot to learn in life or one of our senior citizens in life but take some advice, careful for what you say as it might come back to haunt you.
9 times out of 10 you should beat us as you are in a higher league (just) but can I remind you when our reserves played your reserves last season - Ooops

Whether they field their strongest XI or their reserves depends on whether we win or not doesn't it? That's how it worked in the County Cup match.

Be honest Matty, only three players in the County Cup game had any league experience with Cheltenham (Lewis, Haynes and Denton) and Richardson in goal had possibly the worst goalkeeping performance I have ever seen. I willingly take defeat on the chin and you absolutely battered us, but lets not start on the fact that we only called them our reserves because we lost.

As for the friendly, I note on our site that it states the game will only go ahead if our pitch is ready (bit odd that). I imagine we'll play two teams (if we have the players of course), one for the first 45 and one for the second. Both will be a mix of first teamers and reserves/youths.

What I meant to say was that our team that night is never referred to as a reserve side, even though it featured as many regular players as yours did...even on the recent robins season round up on TiG they referred to a reserve side being beaten by Gloucester City, no mention that we fielded a weakened team too.

Same happened in the report for the game on the back page of the citizen the day after, I think our coverage in the citizen was altogether pretty decent last season but that was one occasion where I was fuming and my 'conspiracy theory' (see other thread) does appear to have justification...I spoke to loads of people who read that report and who weren't at the game and they all mention that 'it was only a reserves team we beat', totally undermining the effort of the young lads who played so well for us that night.

That's a fair point, and one I acknowledged at the time as well.

Cheltenham fans hardly recognised the majority of players in the proud red shirts in the County Cup, we just suspended Martin Allen, it was a " topsy turvy" time at Whaddon Rd when you played us.

Things will be put right in pre-season and I'm looking forward to it.

I imagine we'll be fielding a load of trailists and youth teamers. Friendlies are the only fixtures more meaningless than the County Cup.

It is good that we play these kind of teams though, it gives the strikers a chance to get their confidence levels high before the season starts.

Who are the "home" team for this game?

Advertised as a home game on the CTFC site. For a PSF, this could be a bit tasty i reckon. Double figures i hear ;)
