Super result, would have been topped to perfection if the red and whites from the other side of the A40 didn't get a last minute equaliser.

Anyway, great stuff boys!

how the hell did belle play league football? he was ****, and we could have won about 6-0 had we scored from the countless ono on ones!! They may have had 10 men but i thought they were absolutely clueless, and they were a dirty team who didn't like the fact that city pushed and harassed them! Fair play to Ricco who came up to me in the bar after and shook my hand!

Great performance from many, if not all of the team (apart from Super Kev who hardly touched the ball - he did tell me that he participated in the warm down after the match) Tim Harris thought Jack Pitcher ran his socks off, but sitting with Hannah in the main stand meant that I saw in the second half that Jack Harris didn't put a foot wrong. Chippenham fans were funny at the end of each half as they berated the ref as they came off - sour grapes:biggrin:

we learnt how to play the wind - and they didn';t ... we threatened their goal throughout the match they didn't - if OG hadn't scored, then someone else would ... great performance, particularly against the wind 2nd half - and the fans were pretty good 2nd half too!

Sorry, it was Jack Harris at 11 (who had a super game)

Ashley Williams' sending off was just a continuation of last years scrap at Yate

Great performances which showed that we can turn the conditions to our advantage. Really good to see 4-4-1-1 work out well and Bally scared them sh!tless when he came on for Syko.

Boris and Adie are going to take turns to do the interview too so here's Adie's first offering here (http://www.cityladies.co.uk/spf/ah041008.mp3)

A good performance all round, I did think that they would be better in the second half, but they failed to materilize... their number 5 was ****, with no clue what so ever, the fat bloke on their bench could have played better! Their fans were moaning like crazy about the ref at half time, it was funny to hear...come on City with Morf to come we can only get better...

.

The defence played well with two centre backs, Kev. was well protected from their puny attacks.

Worst "Sporting" Chippenham team I have seen, clueless, thank goodness!

Ref had a good first half, but appeared to lose it in the second.

Nice to see " some" away support for a change, helps our finances!

Great result today.

I've seen City try 4-4-2 about once a season for the six or seasons I've followed them, and this was the first time they've got it right. The defence (with an average age of less than 22 with my estimated calculations!) was fantastic. great communication and organisation. My man of the match was young Matty Sysum, who seemed to be the organiser back there. I'm not sure if he's played full back before, but he looked like he'd been playing there for 10 years. Absolutely brilliant, and I'm really happy to say that after I criticised him after the Bedford game.

We should've scored more, but apart from that, a near faultless performance. Sykes, Jack Harris, Rosey, and Pitch were all excellent. I know Pitch didn't score, but he kept their entire defence wrapped up all match.

Neil, did you take a photo of the cute female Chipp supporter?

What? I'm amazed by that if it's true. Did you see the Chippenham fans?

Anyway they were very lucky not to be down to 9 men, Belle was woeful. Every clearance being skewed into the stands and all he did all game was tug on Pitchers shirt. Chippenham looked devoid of any ideas to me other than hit and hope.

Jack Harris was man of the match for me, a very good performance from him. Jack Pitcher worked very hard up front as did Smithy on the wing but I think they'll both admit they should have bagged at least a goal each.

Can't complain with 2 nil, as before the game I was fearing a bit of a mauling but we need to start putting those chances in the back of the net, it should have been 5 or 6 today easily.

Onwards and upwards anyway

Thanks for that, I took my eye off the action for a moment and missed it. It was just him and Pitcher carded then?

A good win against tough opponents in difficult conditions

Just to waive a flag for the youth side but little on here about the latest lad to make the step up to sign SL forms. His name is Brett James, a young man who knows where the back of the net is and who has a great future ahead of him. Jack Twyman was on the bench again. Both lads played in the U18 3-0 home win v Wellington in the week along with the third lad to have stepped up to the squad Ollie Hall.

A really good performance yesterday and could have been even more at the end -Smithy could have had a hatrick!

Good to see some away support although nothing like the numbers Chippenham used to take away and they probably only had an extra 5/10 miles to travel than the 'home' support

Thought Chippenham looked pretty poor to be honest and one of the most un-sporting teams I have seen for a long time. Belle was lucky to stay on the pitch and their number 3 could give it out ok but didn't like it back!

Anyway a good 3 points for the lads to move us back up the table - happy days!

This will be a test of mettle for our relatively inexperienced team. A losing run, the loss of influential players. Chance for some of the 'fringe' to step up to the plate, and for others to grab themselves a senior status in the team. This is the sort of occasion where the manager best gauges a player's appetite, spirit and whether he has the right mental attitude to play at this level and for his team.

My guess is that come 4:49 this afternoon, (come win, draw, lose, or abandonment due to animals on the pitch) we will know a lot more about our team and who really is up for it and up to it

Fan-****ing-tastic

An awesome performance, not in the quality of the game (who could have played well in those conditions?) but in terms of the sheer determination and effort of the City boys. I feared a beating but the missus was in a good mood and it was a very comfortable win in the end. Chippenham might not have turned up, but I don't think we let them have any time on the ball to play. A few performances of note:

Jack Harris - When Adie asked his nephew to bring his boots to a game cos he was short who would have thought it would go this far. Tremendous game, put himself about like a man twice his weight at closing time, and a bit of skill and clever passing as well.

Tom Webb / Matt Rose - Chippenham were crushed by the wheels of industry. Everywhere.

Alex Sykes - Some great touches, slowed things down when the game became a bit pinball. Surprised he came off, I reckon he was gaggling for a pint myself.

Ashley Hamblin / Tom Thomas - Like a spongy rock on wheels. Solid but mobile, and soaked everything up.

Jock Patcher - tremendous workrate from the attacking Bristolian. If he had his shooting boots on then he would have torn them apart again. Played the textbook 'target man holding the ball up to avoid it coming back at the defence' role really well.

Jody Bevan - dog ****. Just didn't seem interested. Was the one black mark (am I allowed to say that?) on the day

Referee - A funny game for him. Got his cards out so much first half that I think he decided to be a bit more lenient and let things go. Cortez Belle could easily have gone, although to be honest he was more of a help to City staying on the pitch. Bottled it in the second half, clear penalty but decided to blow up because of the injuries after the foul was committed. And would he have sent off Williams had the linesman not have convinced him? Look I'm not being bitter, right. And yes I'm happy with the win. Yes I am. But if you only complain about the referee when you've lost then it seems like sour eggs. I reckon you should also complain about the referee when you've won. Unless he's had a good game in which case you should also say so. Even if you've lost.

Not sure on my position re the referee having an OK game in a score draw situation, I'll get back to you on that one.
