Thats two years running then.
I wonder how many of the Team Bath XI featured in their SLP team? This seems to be one of the objections to their whole being (that they have a specific team for our league)

Interesting indeed. What justification do they have for going into the pyramid? Team Bath have a lot to answer for!

This is the problem. The FA have opened a can of worms by letting the team Bath thing happen! Now every University in the country could do the same and the FA could not object!!

Just think though, they could groundshare with us (when we have a ground) and we could be minted

Well done Hartpury. That's a top class result.
I must admit I'd be a little bit worried if they entered the football pyramid. Not only would we lose the Hartpury players who already play for us, but we'd also be competing with them for young talent in the area, which is a battle we'd lose. A free education and full-time football is something we can't offer.

I would echo Joe and Clifty's comments on this. It would be very worrying if uni sides starting popping up all over the place in non league football - in my opinion the bring nothing positive to it at all.
That said, well done to Hartpury on a great result for them

It happens in rugby already. Hartpury are in the league system there and have gone through 4 leagues in 4 seasons, losing one game.
Loughborough are also in there and have reached the National leagues (same level as Lydney next season) and that is Hartpury's aim too.
TB started in the Western league Division One in 2000 and if Hartpury joined they might have to start at County or Hellenic level.

The pyramid is for CLUBS, not TEAMS.

Well I don't have a problem with money going into Uni sides per se as it provides for top quality coaching to get lads through who haven't been snapped up by the big clubs. The problem is that these teams are not funded by attendances, by hard working fans and have little history. It is not disengenuous to say that it is unfair for 'proper' clubs like City, Halesowen and Kings Lynn etc, to have to compete with sides essentially funded by the state.
The best thing to do would be to have more of these Uni 'superteams' nationally and they can play in their own league, and their players can have the option to play for clubs in the pyramid, like the Hartpury lads do. Also remember during my uni days at Southampton that about 5 of the firsts used to play for Eastleigh and it was a good way of bringing the students and the locals together.
At the end of the day I know I'd prefer to play for an established club with more than 14 fans rather than a 'Team' whose crowd consists entirely of coaching staff.

Well !!! they had about 10,000 fans when they played Mansfield!
One promoted; one relegated, this season !!
