Reading the Newport messageboard I noticed this (http://www.the-exiles.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7006) about their ex-keeper Mark Kendall. He played for the Exiles at Meadow Park and he always took the stick well.

One young City fans asked him if he used to play for Tottenham, "long before you were born" was the reply

R.I.P. :frown:

I'm sure I remember one game where Kendall was in goal, the ball was played to him by one of his defenders outside his area, he then dribbled the ball into his area and picked it up for which the ref blew up for a backpass, kendall was quite incensed at this decision claiming that as he had dribbled it into the area it couldn't have been a backpass.

RIP Mark Kendall

ps: it wasn't me that asked if he used to play for spurs

I think I can remember that Ade. The season that he played for them we seemed to draw them in every competiton!

Had the pleasure of watching Mark many times during those memorable Somerton Park days. A extremely likeable chap, who was an integral part of the clubs success in the 1980's, along with the likes of Tynan, Aldridge, Lowndes, Aizlewood etc.
