Most of us usually end up from time to time with some loose change : bronze coins that weigh down pockets so that we put them aside somewhere around the house.

A friend of Julie Messenger decided to offer her collection to Julie, from whom she has heard a good deal about Gloucester City, to help with Trust funds. I've written about this in the programme and thought it a good idea to promote among our fans to see if we could add to this first donation, which has come from outside the club.

I was delighted to learn that I have at least one reader of my scribblings in the programme when glamourman came up to me in the bar at the Corinium Stadium yesterday and handed over his collection of 2p pieces. I've totalled them today and they amount to more than thirteen pounds.

Just think : if each of our supporters, shall we say 300 of us, did what glamourman has done we would have nearly four thousand pounds !

Thats very good news especially considering it's been donated to the club from a no City supporter.

Thanks Glamourman

Who else is going to build a pile of pennies ?

Possibly me but you'll need a wheel barrow to collect them in!

I'll take up that challenge !

At the moment its far too lucrative for me to keep my 1p and 2p bronzies as I am still able to get young Sam to do plenty of jobs around the house (eg cook me a fry-up) or in the garden (bait the rat) for a 'gold coin'

The obvious answer is for Sam to be paid his proper dues, in pound coins, then all the loose change can come Gloucester City's way.

I do think that this simple way of raising £4K for Gloucester City ought to be considered by everyone. A sum of that magnitude makes a big difference to a club like ours.

Noah there is more to come. Just been down the back of the settee and found another bag full. This time there are some little silver ones too.

Will dump them upon you when I next see you.

Received £26.83 on Tuesday last as the third contribution to this scheme. That seems an unusually large amount of small change to have accrued, but I'm not complaining. If you can contribute something in this way, collectively we can make a real difference. Many thanks, Glamourman.

I started doing this at Uni last year when this thread first started, with the original intention of saving up for a season ticket (which turned out to be a fairly unrealistic target). Only got to £13.50 by the start of the season but still decided to go for it so there is another indirect contribution. Maybe if I start now I might make it all the way by the start of next season

I had LOADS but my old man got in there first, counted it up and cashed it at the bank. All the coins, including 20p's, 50p's and pound coins as well as the chump change came to over £300

excellent idea - i did this at church a few years back and got loads of cash - some people can't tell the difference between a 1p and £1 coin !!! We sponsored a child in Africa - i think he plays for Arsenal now.
