Well, according to this (http://forums.footballwebpages.co.uk/forum.jsp?id=88&article=3671) we're going to have a new face sooner rather than later...

Greeners staying :D
seriously though cant really see him moving anywhere unless its up. he is a regular in the team and if we get promoted then i definatly cant see him coming back down
Graham

Yes Saywer is a good keeper but I have no complaints about Ray Johnson to date, I think that once he settled down after a couple of games he has played well.
Give him a chance!
With regards to midfield, although we are fairly strong but we need a player who is going to get stuck in and boss the midfield. We have plenty of runners and chasers but no one who sit and can control the midfield

Whats the situation regarding Witts hes probably going to be released do you think he will come

18th March 2007, 07:31 PM
We might have a chance with Whitts but I think money might stop us getting him in the end. He has been to WSM and Mangotsfield and hasn't done as well as he has done when he has been here, so that could eliminate some rivals for his signature. I just don't think there are the resources for top players like Sawyer, Lee Smith and Whitts and we would be lucky to get one of them!

I can't see him being given a new professional contract and given that he's only really performed for us at this level (out of us, Mangos & WSM) I don't think he'll be able to demand anything like the kind of money that he's been on, thus opening the door for us possibly to sign him. However, like I've said before, he's perfect material for Team Bath so if he's that way inclined thats where I think he'll be playing next year.

thats a shame but maybe true but what if we got them we would be challengers

If all was right with our finances etc. I would like to sign...
Michael Whittington - He was immense for us in his first Loan spell and hopefully he could produce the goals again.
Lee Smith - He looked very good for Cirencester when we played them the other week and he can take the ball around any defender in the entire division. Hopefully he does sign for us.
Chris Holland - I'm very optimistic. He was awesome when he was with us last season and he would be a welcome acquisition to the team. However I feel that Bath City will have something to say about this :D
Danny Hodnett - If Worcester don't want him anymore he'd be very welcome here at Meadow Park. He was awesome when he was with us.
Lets just say.....we don't want John Williams back :D
Can't think of any others at the moment.

Whitts would be a top signing but let's not forget that Jody will be back next season and having been out for most of this season, he is going to be like a new signing.
Defence is the area that we really need to concentrate on and 'Dutchy' would be fantastic to get back but seeing as Bath will be on the way up, it's unlikely that he would want to stay at this level.
As always money is going to be the issue so who would we be looking at letting go to make way for new players?

Im a friend of Kev Sawyers and have been following his football for quite a few years.
Personally I would like to see him playing somewhere like Gloucester. After watching so many games at Salisbury with large numbers of fans, good away support etc it was a bit of an anti-climax for me going back to Ciren to watch.
Gloucester seems to have a reasonable following who create a good atmosphere which is what I like.
No dis-respect to Ciren but they dont get big gates and its a little quiet at best. Oh and the football isn't all that special at the moment either.
I do think Kev is one of the best keepers in the southern league so who knows what will happen next season.

The Bath fans think that Paul Evans is by far the best keeper in the league, maybe he is, but if he's on £500 per week like he told our fans he was last saturday then he's really out of this league. I don't imagine Sawyer is on anything like that so would be the kind of keeper who could really compliment us and, judging by what you're saying we would compliment him.
Yesterday I saw him play for Ciren and was very unlucky with the first goal having pulled off a great save but was unable to stop the rebound going in. Added to that in the second half he was very quickly off his line to pounce on a miskick back towards him.
I'm not knocking Ray Johnston, he's doing alright but I don't think he's as good as Sawyer and if we want to progress we have to bring in the best players either if we can attract them or if they become available.

The obvious one to go is Wilko. He hasn't featured much this season and games often seem to pass him by. I'm sure he would find his way down to the Causeway

Whils't Ciren have conceded quite a few goals I do feel that if it wasn't for him (the game against you is only one example) then they would prob be pretty much doomed already.

Lee Smith would be the obvious target, I don't think we need Whitts unless somebody leaves we'll have Cox, Griffin, Welsh, Bevan and Tustain. It would be nice to see Hodnett maybe sign for us permanently because he has impressed with us but keeps going back to Worcester all the time..
I think Ray Johnston is doing well so I don't know if we'll need a new keeper, (apart from when he comes hurtling out to the halfway line!).
And there is a lot of players we could really do with staying with the club aswell remember!
Neil
18th March 2007, 09:55 PM
Pablo, Honey, I think four of those five strikers will be gone next season....
gloucester4life
18th March 2007, 10:07 PM
yeah but we have 2 get rid of players 2 have the funds2 bring in the new players and hope welsh and griffin stay and if we could even sign lee smith we would have to go to tribunal again but any club would shed a few quid 2 get him 1 thinks;and we have got to keep the players we have at the mo 2

Kevin Slack from Cleeve has got 21 goals this season. He might want to make the step up?

given evans' fondess for 'banter' with opposition fans and the fact he certainly reads the city forum (so maybe others as well) i think that a comment like that was tongue in cheek

I think Tustain and probably Cox will be gone by next season so Whitts is a possibility. Think Wilko may go as well, seems to like putting the boot into players rather than tackling them!
gloucester4life
19th March 2007, 03:32 PM
yeah i can see that happening with the 1s leaveing but cant see us getting whitts back and we will be lucky 2 get kevin sawyer, lee smith aswell but who knows we can only wait and see but who ever comes ther get are support

19th March 2007, 03:48 PM
i can see coxy going, Tustaine going, Wilko going, prob see Adie Harris hang up his boots.
i HOPE to god that Welsh stays, Bevan i hope gets given his chance to prove himself as he was getting his form when he got injured.
Griff, nice lad, works hard, i personally would keep.
Lee Smith in. Wouldn't be worried if we kept Ray in Goal. He can only get better and hasn't been that bad considering he came into a team leaking goals like we were.
Not sure that i would resign Whitts, but would defo have smithy back!

I'd like to see Whitts back up front with Jody again and or Jase should he stay!

Wilko has been a little too slow at this level last season, as well as this. Expect Burnsy is looking for a pen even as I type !
He has always been a loyal servant of the Club but the time has come........:)

I hope Jason stays as well, but I wouldn't be surprised if Jimmy is still with us. He loves this club and, if his mind is right, he could have the summer to get fit and then he'd be raring to go.
gloucester4life

yeah but hes been poor with the last 2 stays hes had with us so i wouldnt bet on him being here just get some new players in that r going 2 make us better

I agree with City Supporter that Wilko has been a little slow and not himself since he came back from injury, although he gives 100% each game and if he can quicken up a little I would have him in any team at this level

Next thing someone will be calling for Muzzie to go!!!!

I'd have Liv Tyler up front, with Sophie Ellis Bexter playing behind her

I'm suprised that only one has mentioned Aide Harris. He would be missed for what he has done for City but it is probably time he hung up his boots and he would be worth a good send off.

There is only one name i am thinking after last night. He shot straight to the top of the list last night. Danny Hodnet!! A shorter, more skillful version of Lee Jeffries! a must sign player!!

I reckon Bevan & Cox will be here but not Tustain & Welsh. I think we will really struggle to keep Welsh and I will be gutted if he goes, he's been quality for us this season!

How about he smuggles a machine gun in his shorts and mows down the opposing defence in his last game. Now that would be a truly memorable sending off (although some refs in our league may decide on a yellow).
On a serious note, we all seem to be retiring Adie, that's his decision but I would rather he stayed at the club in some capacity than dropped down the leagues to carry on playing.

Pyro Cirendancer reckons Chippenham will finally get their man (Smithy) in the summer....
Graham
21st March 2007, 05:22 PM
Everybody keeps on about Smithy but when did he put in a game when he crossed consistantly, most went awall, good at going past players and getting down the line but final ball was missing.
We must look at fresh blood, it is always diffiult going back
gloucester4life
21st March 2007, 05:40 PM
yeah but hes improved and every 1 goes on about him cause hes fast and attacks defences and other teams r after him so his crossing must be good now and it was quality against us;and he gets oals what else do you want graham

I agree Shandy. surely he could be found a job with City if he did retire.
