I see Paul Ince has left Notts County (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/12951734.stm)

After the feature on Radio 5 during the week (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/9441854.stm) regarding black managers we now only have one in the football league (Chris Powell at Charlton who, incidentally, has overseen a really poor period of form recently).

Anyone have any thoughts/ideas about this? The BBC article mentions the Rooney Rule adopted in the States where they have to interview minority candidates. Shouldn't it boil down to the best person (male/female - white/black) getting the job? I find it hard to believe that there isn't a single other black manager better than the 90 or so white managers floating about..

I must say I expect this thread to be a little quiet.. we'll see.

On a side note, I don't think too many people will lose much sleep if Notts County slip into League 2 considering their shenanigans last season. This has nothing to do with the fact that I'm a Forest fan. Honest :)

How many ex-players go into management full stop? There must be thousands of professional footballers but there's only 92 managers jobs in the football league, and a lot of those are probably people who ended their playing careers 30-40 years ago, when there weren't as many black players anyway. I'm sure the number will increase but it won't happen overnight.

Quotas are racist. Jobs should be given on ability alone.
