I am glad, i know that there are conflicting opininons on this but i know having spoken to someone from ciren about this, that we will benefit more from being there than at FGR, certainly financially.

Well done to all of you involved in securing this, and who continue to work hard behind the scenes towards securing a new ground. These things take a lot of time and efforts, but are difficult to recognise until they bear fruits. I take some optimism about the future from the guarded but nevertheless progressive comments of our Chair.

I know that fans have had certain gripes with FGR over things relating to the bar etc but personally I have never had a problem with any of the stewards or match day / bar staff or arrangements. I would like to put on record my thanks to FGR and Colin Gardner for providing us with a home at very short notice. We may not have been enjoying the Tigers play-off push otherwise.

To the FGR fans I say this - you will only have some half a dozen games or so to see us play at your place, so why not haul your arses up the hill and watch a play off challenge now yours is over.

Sounds good to me will be so much better than FGR...

this is big news. congratulations on finding a new place to play football - i supposed this actually increases your chances of moving in to a new stadium perhaps in the city by having an extra season to prepare for it. i'm sure our fans will be delighted  although they won't notice that we'll be missing out on the extra revenue you have presented our club with. hopefully you can make your last few matches at the new lawn a promotion winning season - and will also visit the new lawn today in our home match against oxford united

I liked the NL but I suppose that Cirencester will be easier for many people to reach and will probably be quicker to get to.

Some positives and negatives;

Obviously Cirencester isnt as good a ground as FGR's, but at least the whole stadium will be open on matchdays. However both ends are uncovered so the atmosphere may suffer, unless everyone moves along the side.

If we are promoted, I'm not sure how they would segregate there which they would have to if we played Newport, AFC Wimbledon etc.

No pubs anywhere near it although the club bar is good

Should'nt have any problems with stewards there

More revenue for the club

Ciren look likely to be relegated, so we may benefit from a few casual followers coming to our games instead. Certaintly a lot more than being in Nailsworth anyway.

If we play Shortwood again in the cup we won't have 300 locals coming out and despite them being old rivals shouting them on and "accidently" forgetting to leave their flags up...

Shame it's not Tuffley Rovers but I'm sure it would be a massive job financially to get it up to scratch, especially as it would just be a temporary base. Plus theres the parking issue, not just that theres not much around there but also that your car may not be there when you return...!

All in all I think most fans saw this coming, let's just hope we can push on and secure a site back in the city as soon as possible.

Incorrect Robert, one end has been covered now for at least season, possibly two! I think it's affectionately known as "The New T T-End' (the first 'T' stands for 'Temporary'").

I'd like to thanks FGR for letting us use their ground for a season, but all the red tape involved and excess stewarding reminded me why I love Southern League football, and I can't wait to go back having an SL ground as our home next season.

Well done to all involved.

does this mean we can have the whole ground too not just half like at FGR

Yes, and to my mind this will make a big difference.

Imagine we go there needing a win to guarantee a playoff spot and they need a win to avoid relegation. Would be some game!

This is good news and I think the size of stadium will suit us better than FGR. Hopefully we will be able to make more money on a match day as well - saving on stewards and possibly from bar takings?

Although it hasn't been ideal at FGR I would like to thank them for helping us out this season and wish them all the best for the future.

I echo many peoples sentiments, thanks to FGR for helping us out at our hour of need but our size club would be more suited at Cirencester with less match day costs and access to the whole stadium.

If I am any judge, a lot of hard work has gone into securing this deal and Mr Phillips and I daresay Mr Harris and quite a few others are due our thanks for sorting it out.

Absolutely Dave, the efforts of the people behind the scenes are too often taken for granted. Thanks to everyone involved in the continued survival of our club during these trying times.

This move will benefit the club in the long run. So many clubs at our level could have folded after last summers problems, but we've managed to come together now as club (directors and fans) and secure a bright future with possibilty of all the efforts going into rasing money to get our new ground.

P.s. A big thank you, to FGR for stepping in and giving us a home to play at this season.

It seems as though FGR will now be able to commence their slick passing football now that our players aren't churning the pitch up every other week...

You mean the type of football that we have been managing to play on that pitch but they haven't! football supporters are so fickle!

This is great news in the long run for the club, it gives us two more years of stability which is fantastic.

However, although the gesture from Cirencester is just amazing and I'm very thankful for it, the stadium isn't the best for Atmosphere, which is probably the one thing that Gloucester City have an advantage on every other club in the league. Now because it has no real terracing and we all have to stand in one big line behind the goal, this'll be lost probably.

Just a minor issue I suppose, but thankyou Cirencester

we can make noise anywhere! only have to look back to Northwood which is the deadest ground about, yet the ref even commented on how loud we were!!

... unfortunately for many others it won't. Like many others I travel from the quedgeley area to the new lawn and cirencester is almost double the travelling time and distance. :frown:
At least weve got a ground for another season ..you cant win em all!

Talking of this, anyone up for doing a similar sort of thing for the Banbury and Chippenham games, I'm sure we can get hold of some more balloons and stuff...

P.S If anyone knows where I can get loads of yellow and black balloons in bulk at a cheap price, let me know. lol.

Obviously I am thankful to FGR for standing in at our hour of need and providing us with the facilities that have enabled us to progress thus far this season, and also thankful to Cirencester for doing likewise for next, but for me this really isn't good news. Cirencesters ground is 12 miles further from me than Forest Greens thus meaning an extra 24 miles on top of a round trip that is already 104.4miles for a home game. At a time when Petrol prices are rising along with all other living prices and yet wage rises don't reflect these hikes in outgoing something will eventually have to give and it's likely to be the football.

Sounds like good news. Hopefully it wont be long until you get a ground of your own. I miss going to your old ground every now and again.
