All we have gone through and on our budget we are 5th.

Conversely, Corby Town must be ****ting themselves - a large budget and in the relegation places. I think they have enough quality and good enough support that they hopefully will be alright. Cirencester may also stay up, it's quite tight throughout the league.

what a great result for city. i was delighted to see the goal given right at the end having endured 90 minutes of their 10 supporters moaning, criticising, swearing etc. etc. its a great run and i can't believe where you are considering where you were five or six months ago. and also a return to city's number 1 penalty taker.

Marvellous night.

It was a very poor turnout tonight, but oh well, its their fault for missing one of the performances of the season. The attendance may have been down but the noise was turned up to maximum tonight. Fantastic vocal backing as always, lets keep it up lads, it does spur on the team onto greater things!

Onto the match, we thoroughly deserved the win in my opinion. We gave as much as we received physically and we roughed up the Team Bath players very well. We rode out wave after wave of attack and hit them on the break and looked very threatening. I think I'm not the only one to think that the game was over when the Students took the lead. But the team showed character, and plenty of it, to get us back into the game.

Thank GOD that Sykes was on the pitch when the penalty was given. We've missed his calm and assured approach recently. The 2nd goal was definately in from what I saw on Neil's photo. Great job the Linesman was in that position, I know we gave the Officials alot of stick but I thought they were fairly decent tonight.

Jack Pitcher's performance tonight was his best all season, even better than the 5 Goals at Yate. He was everywhere tonight, the amount of yardage he must have picked up by the end of the game is frightening to think about! Smithy and Webby were very good also. Thomas and Mustoe at the back were solid, we've now become one a select few teams to shut out Sean Canham, thats a very good sign!

Yate is a must on Saturday now. Bring as much tick-a-tape, balloons, toilet paper...whatever! We need to make us much noise as possible. This club is on an up-turn, 5th in the league, playing attractive Football and the possibility of closing down on Chippenham in 4th too. It's looking good!

I think the fantastic thing about tonight is, that wasn't even our strongest side, far from it.

Superb result tonight - I would have been chuffed with a point but to grind out a win like that was superb

Thought that Rose and Muzzie had solid games at the back and Reidy kept their number 9 quiet in the 1st half. Both Pitch and Bevan did really well up front and won lots of flick ons and kept battling until the end.

Was a pretty poor attendance tonight but we made a hell of a racket so well done to everyone that was there. You could tell that the players and management appreciated it when they were celebrating with us at the end

My man of the match was Sawyer, or Ashford, or Reid, or Thomas, or Mustoe, or Sykes, or Webb, or Rose, or Smith, or Pitcher, or Bevan, or Richards, or Taylor.

I would have been there but have literally just got in from work

Great result though, to be in the play offs is amazing. But again the attendance highlights just how much we need to get back to Gloucester, even with the fact TB bring bugger all and it was a european night you can bet we'd have at least 150 more playing against the top team if it was still at meadow park.

20th February 2008, 11:59 PM
Fantastic result tonight, really really fought for it, and despite being on the ropes for most of the first half, we clawed our way back into it with a lot of spirit, and got a richly deserved win.

After going 1 down, I really thought that was it. But credit to Jack for winning the penalty that changed the match. It changed the fans, our players, and also their players. Brilliant.

Ben Ashford looked top class, and fair play to Ricco for playing two matches in a day. Also Big Kev with a couple of brilliant saves to keep us alive.

And as for the Cleric swearing, I think that's particularly unlikely! He was in the stand all match too, so I don't think we'd hear him from the Rockwool either.

Final plaudits go to Matt Rose for a great header to win us the game. Get in.

that's Bath City of course. A couple of us came up to watch you against Yate a couple of weeks ago (partly to keep tabs on the greased whippet, Craig Davidge) and thought you were great going forward in the first half. And now you have beaten those tossers, fantastic. Is that the start of their slide? They are definitely catchable now, and a lot of us will be at Twerton next week to cheer on Kings Lynn.
and you are now in the play-offs with games in hand. a wonderful night for you. I got ridiculously over-excited watching Neil's updates and couldn't wait for that '2nd half injury time' to turn into 'full-time'. How much injury time did he play?

Yes, I could have either sat behind the glass alongside the Press Box or watched from the bar, but not in that exposed place on top of the hill. As it was I had a job with even wearing a sweater, to keep warm @ home, but no didn't watch any football on TV either.

I think a big-up also due to Lee Smith last night. Clearly he made an impression against Bedford last week with Team Bath scouting, because they doubled up on him at every opportunity last night. And he still managed to beat both defenders and sometimes three, AND he won a lot in the air last night.

Just need to work on that shooting Lee............

Even I made a rare appearance in public and I would definitely recommend it for any of the non-regulars. I thought City played very well, matching everything TB could throw at them and also creating a fair few chances and giving them a lot to do too. Like many I thought that was it when TB went 1-nil up but fair play to City they dug deep and their commitment and hard-work paid off. It was a real all-round good team effort, the kind of thing you'd expect to see from a top-of-the-league type outfit.

Still a long way to go and a play-off place is not in the bag just yet, so no room for complacency. If anything it's only going to get tougher.

As for TB I think someone seriously needs to question their financial arrangements. I don't think that funding a team with full-time players backed by public money is a. in the interests of the general public, and b. in the interests of providing fair competition. If it was private money that is reasonable and for the rest of us we would accept that as someone else's fortune. But this is public money and as a taxpayer I'm not particularly happy about it.

That is pretty shocking (although not surprising) for a team in their division to take that few away from home.

Looking at our attendance though it was about what I thought it would be to be honest. It was a cold Wednesday night with Champions League on the box and people were never going to drive all the way up to FGR apart from the die hards. We knew there would be no away support so I think we did ok getting over 200!

We all know that we are on a fantastic run but realistically how many people that weren't there on Wednesday know about it!?! I know a few 'casual' supporters and a lot still think we are battling against relegation!

Hope that isn't too depressing but those are the facts. It was a great result and it was a shame there weren't more there but I reckon we made it a pretty decent atmosphere all the same

True, also although the Citizen put that we were in the playoffs in the report on Thursday the league table wasnt printed.

The headline on the back page (well, top left corner) of the Citizen in relation to City was 'Rose scores the Tigers' Winner'. Really enticing headline there, we just beat and dominated the team top of the league and went into a Playoff Position. I know plenty of people who only read the back page because its Gloucester Rugby, maybe if there was a better headline more people would turn the page over.

The position that Tim Harris has got us in is simply an amazing achievement and should merit alot more coverage in the local media. We need the attention more than anyone else and at least some extra coverage would be fantastic.

Neil
22nd February 2008, 02:36 PM
Ideally I would've liked to have got home and got that picture emailed to the Citizen for inclusion with the report but recently they've had their midweek deadline pushed back to 10pm so they've only got half an hour to get anything done. I know "Citizen" isn't best pleased about it.
