View Full Version : Please can we have our midfield back?

Geez - back home, done the press reports and catching my breath.

Sure - we must be down unless there is a lucky fairy up there in the heavens who sees us scoring more than the rough and ready Corby, the going for it Banbogle and the comfortable Dannies.

It must have been Mr H's huge, wide grin that was reflecting on my lens today when he saw our set up. What was that about?

So easy. Muzzie, Webb (my MoM) and Sykes just brushing the 'Lots of Room in Here, come and make yourself at home' signposts we'd stuck all across the midfield.

Slightly sly smile of consolation for me that Ricco, though he as always got involved on the edge of the box, did not do owt as Nathan kept beating him in the chases for loose balls and winning most of the key headers. And midfield tackles. But, only a small consolation ....

Lyndon landed just in front of me - up for a routine header, came down all on his ownio and seemed to land on the edge of his left foot and just toppled. Looked not good.

Agree - Big Kev made 4 or 5 'big' saves second half though equally the shots were a bit too hurried and 'anxious' - he had the Indian Sign on the shooters today. It happens.

Very reassuring for me that Joe, having told me at half time that this is the worst Ciren team he has ever seen (me too, Joe) also told me he thought we'd done a bit to recover our dignity second half. Me too, Joe ....

Someone said at half time that "we'd need another goal". I laughed. I've never felt more comfortable with a half time lead, even though you upped your game going downhill in the second half. If Kev Sawyer doesn't get your play of the season award then something has to be wrong....

true - so true. He's already got my vote ....

Eastleigh offered plenty money for him at Christmas. So glad it didn't happen, though he must be totally peed off playing behind a defence like that ......

Grrrrr.

Sorry to contradict you, GlosGetaLife, but when you know about footy you might think on the fact that the 'lad' inside him was giving no cover ...

sure, Ollie was a tad too anxious and got too close sometimes which is fatal against a forward as good as Jimmy.

But rubbish? No sir - that's what you are saying.

Keep it in perspective and don't get silly about it.

It was never gonna be like that though. We could've had three players sent off and we'd have still run out comfy winners....

From the comments that Sawyer was making to us in the first half, his responses to his own defence and not to mention him kicking the ball out the ground at the final whistle leads me to think theres not a chance in hell he'll be at Ciren next season.

Yes something along the lines of 'I wish I wasn't on the pitch'

Yep, I do rate him. Though he did have a poor game Monday ..... but not helped at all when it was obvious he needed somebody to be having a word and reminding him to do the basics. Got himself too wound up trying to retrieve the situation himself. Kid of 17 sometimes needs a wise word at his shoulder. Didn't get it.
