Job well done for City and most importantly we are safe, but it honestly could have been six or seven today if it weren't for Sawyer. Ciren look doomed...

A lot of upsets today.
Bath 1-0 Chippenham
Cheshunt 2-0 Hemel
Ciren 1-3 City
Clevedon 0-2 tivi
Halesowen 1-0 Merthyr
Rugby 1-0 Kings L
Stamford 0-1 Corby
Wealdstone 4-0 Banbury
Yate 202 Mangotfld
We are now level with Banbury & Mangotfield but stay at 12th by virtue of goal diff. A good jumping off stage to move ahead but looks like we must not take Wealdstone lightly

Ciren do look doomed, apart from the 3 goals we had a crossbar, cleared off the line, post, about 5 one on ones that Sawyer saved. Ciren had a dodgy own goal from a cross even though it was a foul in the build up.

Ciren were rubbish, looked devoid of confidence or ideas. This showed as they completely lost their discipline and at least one of their players found his name in the refs book.
Lyndon's injury looked innoculous but he semed in a lot of pain and Ade Tandy spent quite some time in the changing rooms with him.

Things dont look good for Ciren.
Not often you feel really comfortable watching a city game but that was pretty easy and if we had converted those one on ones, could have scored6,7
Apart from the finishing thought we were excellent.
Compared our bench to Cirens today, didnt seem much of a contest.

a good result and performance it looks by gloucester. good to see scott griffin score against his former club and it looks and sounds as though ciren are doomed. if ciren do get relegated do you feel tim harris will try to get in for sawyer and smith? just a word about paul stonehouse, i feel his loan deal with you guys has really helped him because today at FGR he scored and in recent games has put in some excellent performances against oxford, burton and gravesend. he started today which is quite rare for him and as i said played well and scored. gr8 game though and one of the gr8test ever 4-4 with stevenage and we were 3-0 up! and we equalised in the last minute!
now that gloucester are safe it is possibliy a good chance to give the youngsters a chance to gain some vital experience. congrats on the win :)

On that evidence today Ciren are already down. With a bit more luck, and better finishing it could have easily been double figures today. Coxy should have had a hat-trick, although he took his goal really well. Special mention to Sykes and Mustoe, Psycho really caused them problems whilst Mussie was immense today. Sawyer was complainng about pain in his hand during the first half but made some good reflex saves, but then so did Ray.
Except one dodgy moment in the first half, he looked really composed and made the save of the game. Do we really need Sawyer (who looks about 2 stone overweight)?
Lee Smith still has that something about him when he picks up the ball and runs at defenders, some of his passing was excellent today (including one he nearly set us up with :notworthy: ). I really hope we bring him back, must be a bit downheartning playing infront of a graveyard every week.
Great following today, did we beat the so called Bath 300? I dunno, very close I guess as during the game 3 sides of the ground were city fans.
If we play like that for the remainder of the season we will finish in the top ten.

I trained the camera on him when you were singing, no reaction, but wouldn't be surprised if he was too focused on the game to hear.

He heard when one of our fans shouted no wonder your bottom of the league and Smithy turned around and proudly said
"3rd from bottom actually"

The attendance was 356 and it was a bit like 'spot the home fan'. And one of the smallest cheers ever when they scored, maybe?

A good easy win yesterday against the worst Ciren team I've ever seen. If they can't keep hold of Smithy and Sawyer, they won't be coming back up for a while.
Hamblin had a very good game today with a very well taken goal. Am I right in thinking that was his first ever goal for City?
Shame about Lyndon too. He's my player of the season. I hope this injury doesn't set him back for too long.
I'd certainly have Smithy back, and would think hard about going in for Sawyer. Razor's done a top job and really organises the defence well. But Sawyer is the best keeper I've seen at this level, so it's hard not to want him in a City shirt. I suppose money and age should be factored into this equation as well.

Too right Pablo.
It was probably the first time I have ever gone into a City game knowing we will win. Cirencester are looking in real trouble now as they are 2nd from bottom and it seems like Northwood, Corby and Wealdstone are determined to get out of the relegation places. Ciren had no desire on show yesterday and they've probably succumb to the fact they will be facing Cinderford and Bishops Cleeve next season.

There's an interesting thread on the Ciren Forum by Darren Robeson twisting the knife a bit....

Joe - Robo has been in touch. He tells me he was being impersonated and I'm happy to accept his explanation.
Whoever thought it would be amusing has in a sick sort of way flattered us. Who'd a thunk that we'd be such a 'big' club as to get bother causers on our site, eh?
It is extremely rare for a player to cause bother. Just as players accept that what goes on in a dressing room is kept private from the speccies, they also respect that the banter between fans is not territory for players.
Any who break that code lose their reputation for ever.

There are a few who crossed over if I remember.
Darren Edwards was a regular on the Mangotsfield forum when he was travelling in OZ, can't remember him being troublesome though.
One who struck a cord with City was Lee Ross, we even had a whipround for him when he got injured. Not quite sure how he came to be such a favourite (having no other connection with the club) and not sure what he's doing now.

Quite agree - those were 'fan banter' postings and I think a lot of folk quite enjoyed the way those lads kept the 2 parts of their life separate.
Bother causing posts are a different matter.
The only continuing case i know, though a manager rather than a player, would be the Saga of Saunders on the Chipp Forum. Did not help how people thought of him one bit.

Must admit that Ciren's ground was one of the most depressing places I have ever watched a football match. So soulless, it actually felt like a car showroom... Is pretty unbelievable that they are where they are considering they had about 15 fans.

Whats more incredible is how they were nominated for the Non League Paper's Community Club of the Year. From the evidence of yesterday, it looks like the community isn't really getting behind the side.
I'd agree that it isn't a pleasant experience going to Cirencester.
