View Full Version : Attendances

Loads of poor attendances today in the FA Cup
Just 15 thousand at Bolton v Wigan, a town barely 10 miles away from each other.
12 thousand empty seats at Everton V Chelsea
13 thousand empty seats at Birmingham for a derby game
15 thousand empty seats at Swansea
16 thousand empty seats at Villa
I remember the days when FA Cup games were sell outs, today there were empty seats at Southampton for a game against Man Utd.
League matches are just as bad, if not worse.
When are those at the FA going to wake up and realise that prices are way too high?
You can watch a Bundesliga game at Dortmund, top of the league, in a 80,000 capacity stadium for 15 quid. It stinks.

Out of interest, what are typical prices? I'm too lazy to look them up.

Following a Championship club the usual prices vary from 22-30 quid at the moment, although Ipswich wanted 33 quid last season for away fans at Portman Road! When Boro were in the Premiership most places were about 30ish quid, Arsenal was about 35 I think which wasn't too bad but then it was a Sunday and on TV. Chelsea and Tottenham on a Tuesday night however was 52 and 49 quid respectively. No word of a lie. I did the Emirates but refuse to pay the kind of prices alot ask for.

I guess I'd pay it as a one off, I'm happy to do so when I watch England at Wembley but week in, week out you can see why someone with a season ticket would have a rest for all-pay cup games.

15 quid at Birmingahm today. I paid £405 for my season tkt. Paid £43 for Villa away and £38 for West Ham in the Cup!
The prices are crazy for the Carling Cup final, but it`s worth it

It's bad enough for a single bloke, but imagine taking a couple of football mad kids? Rather than the weekly routine, it must become a couple of times a year, special treat. How lucky we are to have become hooked on a team that so regularly refuses to rise up the divisions ;)

It's all Sky's fault in my opinion. Their overflating ego of the Premiership product has seen ticket prices rocket, stadiums become like theatres and towns up and down the country having kiddies growing up "supporting" whoever the big 4 or 5 that Sky dictates are from the comfort of their home, shafting any local pride to their own clubs.
I can see it going the same way as Serie A did, once another big league starts paying stupid money and wages (Russia...?) all the mercenaries will bugger off there and the average attendances will be down to the usual lot that went before Euro 96 and the Media told everyone it's cool to be a football fan.
God I sound so bitter I know.

I'll be paying £35 to see Fulham at home to Blackpool on April 1st! I'm not joking either.
