He is a broadcast professional - at what point did he think he should be careful what he says 'on mic' or even on camera even though it wasn't live? He works in TV ffs, he must have heard of similar incidents (Gordon 'bigoted woman' Brown to name just one recent example)

Or is it a case of:

A) Him being arrogant enough to not only think no one will leak it but to think that criticising a qualified official about what calls she might make, before she's even run the line at the game, is an appropriate comment.

B) He is arrogant enough to not give a toss.

Or even

C) A genuine belief that is it ok to criticise someone just because they are a woman, not based on ability, experience but because they are female.
It's no secret that sexism is alive and well in football - I've written about this before (the Northwich keeper and his phone, the idiots at Southport who asked which player was my boyfriend) and it continues to happen (thankfully not from most of you lot)...

Keys is no angel in this but he still apologised - Gray it seems had been the subject of previous complaints (asking a female colleague to put a mic pack 'down there'). If you can't take the flak for making offensive, misogynistic comments DON'T MAKE THEM WHEN SOMEONE IS RECORDING YOU....

Case in point. Is Malabus being a prick? I don't know him well enough (or at all) to judge. Do I even know if Jenni is being serious when she tells him to 'f**k off'? One person's banter is another's sexist taunt, and 'f**k off' can be delivered in an affectionate manner. Andy Gray could be a complete bellend who had it coming, no contest. He could have just been rather naive. If I had to call it, I'd say it was mild sexual abuse, to the extent that in the guise of the aforementioned banter, the mike kit remark was intended to make the female presenter uncomfortable, but why Gray was motivated to make her feel that way, we don't know. Shorn of context, Gray is screwed, and perhaps unfairly. That's why such incidents should be addressed when they happen, but a) women feel they can't make a fuss because you have to put up a front, and b) these recordings get saved up, minus context, for just such occasions as this.

Of course, the Beeb have awareness courses for this kind of thing...

Extremely naive and/or arrogant of Gray I believe. In the right context, and as accepted banter between people, then I believe any sort of comments can be acceptable. Its when they are used to demean/offend/insult or as a power tool then they are wrong. For example, black people are allowed to call themselves the N word, but I'm scared to even type it on here even in an explantory non-offensive way.
