Can't believe that these coaches are running at a loss. With Petrol now over a £1 a litre this really is the best way to travel to home games. I am really begininning to question the feasability of making the 100+ mile round trip to games!!

You can still do it Weston Branch, I come up from just outside Southampton for the matches, in fact, will be there tonight. We all need a sanity check at times, even more so those that travel long distances!!

Put me down for the ALDI pick-up please Joe.

With talk like Badger's, I really MUST get to tonight's game.

Here's the answer.

As Paul rightly points out, the price change is due to demand not being as great as first hoped. At £4 we needed 40 people on board to break even, which didn't happen. Now we only need 32 people, which is very attainable.

I hope everyone still supports it, and as I said, if anyone thinks the extra £1 is out of their budget, just let me know and we'll sort something out.

Joe,
I am at that same dinner date as Pablo and won't be on the coach. Put me down for a £5 donation as well which I will give you at the ground.

me, egg, trev and Drakey are making our own way to this as we are all going to the skittles night after and need to get back quickly. I will not be making the coach again due to work commitments.

That's £20 less for our chairman. That's a bit disappointing but fair enough. Thanks for all the ones you did support though guys.

I reckon I can do both. Skittles doesn't start til 7.30pm.

19 people?!!!!! where is everyone

Jesus this is getting desperate, we just won 5 nil for ****s sake!!!!!!!

I'd hate to think this coach goes tits up, I travel on my own usually and with a thirsty 2.4 litre engine car this saves me a bloody fortune.

Yea but where are the people that took advantage of the freebie for the "match" against Shortwood???

Or the "supporters" that filled the coaches at the start of the season when we were playing utter tripe at the Lawn and couldnt pass a ball let alone win a game??

I could understand it if we were bottom and playing crap but we have lost 1 meaningless game with a reserve side out and played badly once in 10 matches, we are in the first round proper of the trophy and just battered a side above us in the league 5 nil with a sparkling performance. What more do people want  :frown:

Use it or lose it and we're gonna be losing it at this rate

Bob, I think this week is an exception.

I can't vow for everyone but Me, Pablo and Tim are going for a meal before kickoff due to family coming down, so we cannot commit to the coach but we are still attending the match.

Also a number of others are making their own way due to the Skittles Evening and want to go home beforehand.

I'm sure business will be normal next week against Braintree.

Im not having a pop at the usuals mate as they are there week in week out normally.

It the freeloaders that only turn up when its gratis that pisses me off.

Joe
8th December 2007, 02:20 PM
I know exactly what you mean Bob, and I know he's not having a pop at your and the rest of the Clark's Simon.

It is bloody hard work. I've just had to phone/ text all the people on the coach to let them know the match is off, as most don't have internet access. I also had to phone KB 4 times before anyone bothered to answer, as they didn't seem to know either.

I can confirm that there will be a coach against Braintree, but it will be the last one unless we at least break even. So it really is use it or lose it this time round.

Joe, are you getting much use from those folks that it was intially aimed for? Colin Meadows etc? I haven't seen him a recent games....

Joe

I sympathise, having had the job of calling round so many people when matches were called off at MP.

What you could do it get a answermachine - record a message on it - and put the onus on those who booked to call and find out rather than the other way round. If you dont call and the bus does not turn up thats there hard luck, especially if folk are given the number when they book

Afraid these things cost money, but not a whole lot. The MP one was not salvaged so is not available - possible somebody on here might have one they dont need

Just a thought - it saved me hours at MP

Colin won't travel on it Neil. It had been offered, but he said he's find other ways of getting there.

I think it's difficult to gauge how many people on the coach would travel if it wasn't running, but I can certainly think of 2 that would definitely not attend if they did not travel on it due to the fact they don't drive and I don't think they could get lifts. Apart from that, I think it saves a decent number of City fans, especially some of our elder fans, a good amount of money, which can only be a good thing really. It's costing us all more money playing in Nailsworth, so anything we can save the better.

How come you won't travel on it?

Neil
8th December 2007, 03:02 PM
Two things for me really. One is the old man, stubborn is a compliment to him. And the other me, I finished work at 12.30 this morning, if I was on the coach I'd have to rush around just to get home, shower and meet the coach. It's no fun when you're rushing all the time mate...

I think the coach thing is a noble effort by the Chairman and yourself for helping to run it but it'll only really cover itself if people know where the game is, when it's on and it's worth going to. In the meantime I think we're better off offering lifts to people who can bung the driver a couple of quid to help with the petrol.

We'll be happy to pick up and drop off anyone who lives en route.

I'm with Neil on this one. I can leave home over an hour later if I go by car. I usually take two others with me (and it doesn't cost £15 in petrol so it works out cheaper than the bus). I'd be quite happy to fill any empty seats if people need lifts. A co-ordinated lift share scheme would be so much better if we could work out a way to run it. I love the coach/minibus for away games when I can make it, but just don't think it's realistic for the home ones.

I think the Coach is a great idea for those who usually drive on their own or those who might want to make a day of it however I for one usually take my two cheribs (yeah right!) and my dad and nephew so alot cheaper when think about it as it would cost me alot more to use it when my two girls are down! The games when my two are not down I can drive and offer lifts as will have at least two spare seats and I know a few others who will car share as well.
