Unlike the FA cup, there is no prize money in the FA Youth Cup and so clubs have to meet the cost of travel etc. The split gate rules help, the travelling club get some help to offset coach bills, but even so, an away match of any distance can prove expensive.

This was the case for the FAYC game at Swansea where despite our share of the gate receipts and the fare paying passengers, there was still a fair sized sum that was needed to pay for the Coach.

The shortfall has been very kindly covered by a group of supporters and officials who have clubbed together to help. On behalf of GCAFCYD I want to say a public thank you to all of these people. They know who they are.

Please can I also say a thank you to the supporters who have paid the entry fee to the U18 league for us this season and who are helping to cover the cost of players food. These are all spontanious gestures from the people involved and again, they know who they are. Its superb.

The loss of MP has hit the youth team pockets in much the same way as the rest of the club. When people help us out like this it makes a huge difference and is a great help.

It would be remiss of me not to also make mention of Keyway, Sport Italia and very importanty the Trust, whose financial and other help really does make the difference between us being able to field a youth side at U18 level or not - Mike Noakes, Jamie Reid, Matt Sysum and Sammy - are all proof positive of what a real diffrerence this makes to the club as a whole. THANK YOU
