The seconds lost 2 - 4 to Tetbury Town at home this afternoon.

The game started very badly, with a goal scored from our goal kick within the first minute. Our defence which was missing Sandra, and Vik went to sleep, a poor goal kick from Lana went staright to a Tetbury player who returned it straight back into the net.

The pitch was very heavy, the goalmouths especially were that thick clinging mud which made life didfficult for both defences. Tetbury unfortunately seemed better able to cope. Hayley managed to score both our goals, and Vicky Fyfe scored an own goal in the second half. It was one of the excellent crosses across the goal on the deck with an attacker behind Vicky, she had to do something but sadly it went in the net.

We had several players missing today, the back four was very makeshift with a first start for our new German player Verena, Hannah played at right back instead of her usual left side. Lana played in goal and made some good saves.

Mel looked excellent in midfield, with some powerful running and some great tackles, Sian and Hayley looked dangerous, and Donna was her usual skilful self with some lovely touches and passes.

Not a good result, but not a disaster; Tetbury looked a decent enough side with some quick runners.

Escape of the day, went to Mel who in a huddle of players in the six yard box, actually caught the ball threw it on the ground then cleared it, I couldn't see from my position as lino through the plyers; but somehow the ref missed it.

I saw the 1st Team play on Sunday and felt that we were robbed of a deserved win by an equaliser in the final seconds when we were temporarily down to 10 players

Due to now playing at Frampton, this was the first opportunity I'd had to watch the Ladies this season and after a shaky first 5 - 10 minutes I thought that we settled well and were controlling the game and varied the game well by attacking through the centre and also down both wings, but unfortunately we couldn't get the goal our play and pressure deserved in the first half and at the beginning of the second before Meheren then lashed an unstoppable shot to put us ahead. Sadly we couldn't get the second before, with a rare attack the opposition scored a break-away goal. Again we seemed to be controlling the centre and again used the wings well and when a ball fell into that 'corridor of uncertainty', between defence and goalkeeper, the very certain Meheren dived-in between the hesitant two to push the ball into the net from the edge of the area -and that was it.............right up until our reliable captain, Kerys, limped-off after a challenge and, a minute or two later, inevitably then the ball ended behind our defence and the half-saved lob still found the net, which was doubly cruel as both the keepers we had used played well. Kerys limped back on for the restart but 10 seconds later the final whistle signalled a harsh 2-2 draw

I was very impressed by our right-back number 7 [Charlotte ?] who used the ball, did the basic stuff and supported her team mates very well. For the opposition it had to be their defensive number 14 [who I think I remember from last year ?], without whom it should have been a yellow and black massacre

Unlucky Ladies, I hope I get to see you play again soon
