My first post on the forum will be to inform you that my Dads footballing career has come to an end. Playing last Sunday at the age of 49 Gord Spragg was hacked down and broke his leg as a result, perhaps his blistering pace was too much for the young right back? He's currently in hopsital awaiting an operation to have it pinned. The dream of playing for City is finally over.

Oh no, thats a tragedy... Get well soon Gordon and get back down the City. No-one goads goalkeepers like you goad goalkeepers :D

With some proper rest, and if you do the physiotherapy then there's no reason why you can't make a comeback.

Gordon,

You will be sadly missed plying your trade every Sunday. your speed was amazing!!!!! Get well soon and hopefully see you before the end of the season, unfortunately the end of an illustrious and well respected career. 49 people said you were 59!

That's a big shame. I only learnt of Gordon's unique playing career less than 2 weeks ago, and now it's all over. And he was a cert for a starting place in the Supporters' matches at the end of the season.

Get well soon Gord.

Sorry to hear about this, but I agree with Shandy. Just get on with it, Gordon, and then see Phil Gough about how to play on until you are seventy.

In many European countries the clubs are owned by the memberships and they continue to put sides out in all age groups for as long as the players are alive. I believe that my wife's cousin is playing for an over-70s team in Holland.

Spraggy Junior, please tell your Dad I send my best regards. He has a few weeks now to concentrate on getting his Predikta selections right.

Do we know who broke his leg? Was it a Supporters fringe player who's eliminating the opposition so he can start in the big matches?

I was at home all day on Sunday, if you're interested. And I have witnesses.

Get well soon, Gordon.

I'm sure he could still outpace you Joe, even in plaster
