It seems that the bin-dipping, rock throwing darlings are creating more havoc at Twerton Park (although Bath City FC couldn't care less) and after calling me a paedo for posting a photo of the cherubs on their forum someone has come up with a more radical answer to the problem....Well for fear of getting my head bitten off - perhaps there is another way.
I agree that this behaviour is unacceptable and has to be stopped before someone gets hurt.
It doesn't appear to me though that the suggestions so far, calling the police, landmines, killer dogs etc are likely to work or make much difference. May even encourage worse behaviour and more conflict.
Perhaps a more concilatory approach could be adopted. Perhaps a negative situation could be turned into a positve one with a little bit of time and effort. The youngsters are clearly interested enough in the football to be regualrly returning to a vantage point where they can see the games. If we could get them into the ground perhaps they would become regular supporters and value the club and the stadium etc. They are after all residents of Twerton and Bath and exactly the people who we need to attract back to the terraces. If just one of those youngsters was supported and encouraged to come to matches and got hooked and kept coming back for the rest of his life - that is £1000's of pounds for Bath City.
I have a contact at Bath City Farm where i think there are some good youth workers who probably know the youngsters. Perhaps they could be approached and asked to assit in this situation. I will email them. If we found funding to get them into the ground supported by a youth worker for one of the up-coming matches where the title is likely to be clinched the special atmosphere might just turn them in City fans.
Who knows - ??? If anyone at the club is interested in supporting this type of approach let me know.
Here's anticiapting i'll get my head bitten off! cheers.
