Well that was the worst possible result wasn't it?

Can't fault the effort of the players or the system we used, it was never going to be easy sit back and defend a one goal lead, and that Gerrard chance would have buried them. Feel frustrated rather than angry at the performance. Just gotta hope the Israelis do us a favour.

I hate having to rely on other results and this will just fuel the Russians to whoop Israel. Imagine me going to the Croatia game, which was supposed to be us qualifying, and now we may already be out!

We're out mate, can't see the Israelis doing us any favours! Russia should win both there remaining games and Croatia will get the point they need against Macedonia! See ya McClaren. :tosser:
Hope i'm wrong by the way!

We failed a big test, that was how we would react if plan A didn't go completely smoothly. If that is the reaction of our team when things don't go completely our way then we are real lucky Russia didn't score at the start, it could have got embarrassing.
Now isn't the time to attack McClaren, we knew he wasn't good enough from the off but for now he'll stay manager, we are not out yet. We HAVE to beat Croatia at home, at Wembley I think we'll do that. I think all of us now are literally praying that Israel get at least a draw from their home match with Russia, thats very much a possibility. If not then we aren't in the competition, and that would be rightfully so as we fluffed it in the easy games like Macedonia at home.
I can't help but look at the Gerrard and Richards chances, if you blow your chances, you always leave a chance of something like this happening.
It's totally ruined my night, I don't have complete faith Israel can stop Russia, but i'm praying they do as I know Israel can shut teams out and get draws. Please let them win that game. For now we just have to keep calm and focus on Croatia.
I am so so disappointed, it was going so well. I had my head in my hands at the final whistle, I think we all know this could very well be it until the World Cup 2010.

Every cloud and all that, if we don't qualify and McClaren does go, then there's some Portuguese chap called Jose still out of work!

Now England are in the brown stuff but if you can't beat teams like Macedonia at home then the odds of qualifying get slightly longer. I would have taken a point if it had been offered beforehand but now we find ourselves relying on other sides, Israel can defend as we know but I honestly cannot see them pulling off a surprise and there's no point predicting Andorra to do anything

If it's any consolotion both myself and Mr P won £33 each by betting a pound that England would be winning at half time and losing at full time ;)
Nope? I thought not :D

Israel have only lost 3 in their last 30 home games, against France, Croatia and Spain...
If that's any help?

That Israel game will be no easy task for Russia. Russia has got to be the coldest country in the European qualifying groups, in certain areas of the country at least, and they're travelling to Israel, who are probably the hottest country in the European qualifying groups. Nearly all of Russia's players play in their own domestic league, and I don't think they'll be used to the conditions. Shame it's only November, not July or August.
Israel to win, you heard it here first.

The biggest shame about yesterday is that in the past with teams like Russia/USSR/Soviet Union whatever they may have not had a great team but some really good players in their ranks like Rats,Salenko,Kanchelskis, Belanov etc. Could anybody name a player from their team yesterday?
The average wage must be a few grand in that squad, whilst Englands has to be around 50-60 grand what with the Gerrards, Lampards, Rooneys and Ferdinands of this world being paid 6 figure sums weekly.
Personally I dont think Russia wil blow it, they have desire in their belly, a want to win and pride in their nation. Our lot will get another 3 weeks off in the summer to buy diamond encrusted ear rings, add to their collection of Bentleys, gang rape students in Ayia Napa or show off their wealth on MTV cribs. This is the difference nowadays

Just thought, doesn't Abramovich who basically bankrolls the Russian team and pays Guss Hiddink's wages have a certain amount of influence in Israel via the super agent Pini Zahavi. Not saying that any under the table stuff will go on but if Yossi Benayoun and all the other Israel players suddenly have an off day when they play Russia then perhaps this could explain why!
